the input mappings selections seems to have some bad data in it(?). i get "String[] Array" for my last 6 choices and I can't seem to find the trackball entry (maybe its one of those). also i am having problems getting my settings in the "Events" tab to save... they seem to always reset back to the same values. i.e. i cant turn off the sample and turn on speech for entering gameex... it always turns the sample back on... also how do you get the pause handler to speak the button labels as show in the cp viewer in gameex? they are always read back as 'player 1, button 1, player 1, button 2" instead of attack, jump, kick, punch, etc.

does anyone know (short of making a wrapper setControl.exe) how to disable mouse mode in this plugin? i find that this plugin creates problems with golden tee, etc (trackball games) .. the joystick mouse emulation ends up making Joy button 1 & 2 map to button 1 & 3 (since they end up being the 3 mouse buttons, joy1/2 = mouse 1(left)/3(right)) .. and as a side effect .. makes it so its impossible to hit left/right to get past the 'Type OK or move your joystick left/right' screen that comes up before some games.

Is there any way I can make snap backgrounds in the front end maintain aspect ratio? I have my avi snaps etc working, but I can't seem to find any option to not force them to stretch to full 4:3 mode even if they are vertical ... i.e. the 19xx.avi is 148x256 resolution.... and i have some videos (movies) that are anamorphic (2.35:1) but they get stretched (distorted) to 4:3

is it possible to set the 'audio' attract mode as default during game play when no controls.ini/xml entry is found for a rom ? and i just wanted to say, headkaze, you rock. thanks so much for this plugin, it brings many people much joy in their gamecab experiences . the new version is very nice. the new UI for configuring which outputs correspond to which LEDs/controls is much easier. and the profile stuff is just great. and im sure that is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of all the improvements, both externally and internally, that you've done to this thing. i have to play with it a bit more.

i have used the VGA to CAT5 .... modems .. or whatever the proper name is for them... encoder on one end, decoder on the other. and i have used the USB over CAT5 units as well. they were both used in an install we did for a university.. where we had a 37" LCD screen running 720p with a ELO touch-screen overlay... running a custom way-finding app we built. the picture quality was degraded but perfectly acceptable. the USB functioned properly. latency did not appear to be an issue, but this particular scenario did not have the requirements of a video game system. so............ i can't really make a recommendation based on this. if it was me, i would experiment with 'hard wiring' things and employ normal repeaters developed for use with regular DSUB-15/USB cables.... and just hack some CAT5 between them if that is what is most convenient. i would avoid introducing any extra .... 'steps' or 'conversions' ... and just try to focus on eliminating the physical distance specific problems (physical cabling and signal attenuation) ... in the past I used a HRT-200 as a VGA splitter + amplifier to run the same card to 2 displays. if you wish to just amplify a separate VGA output ("line driver") to help with extreme cable length or multiple connections (signal degradation) on a given output, something like an Altinex DA-1908SX would be appropriate. USB repeater i am not so sure. that one should be easy.

light gun: i think this is handled by ultimarc's mouse input portion of the ultrastrik drivers. i could be wrong. im not so sure if this is something that could be done in the GX plugin... or in the ultramap utility. ? keyboard input: try xpadder. http://www.xpadder.com/

the pm is a pentium-M architecture optimized build (which lends itself better to core 2 duo's than the i686 build). and i dont think that you need anything but 120[u1?] to use this afaik the best results are pm + 64bit this thread may also be interesting http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=72776.0;all

i've found that this particular scenario is what happens when you play a game that is being ran by the gameex 'mame screen saver' the game audio is severely attenuated .. and the jukebox is cranking away ... but u can still play.

are you using a stock install of xp? or is it something nlite-based like tinyxp? ( I am having this same problem w/ videos as well as some other people.... ) what about ffdshow, xvid/divx/klite/cccp/etc?
-
i don't know but i'm having the same problem. tinyxp platinum2, wmp11, latest cccp. are you still using a nlite based install?
-
pardon me if this is a silly question, is there an ETA for GameEx 9?
-
yes the plug-in works great with the GGG LEDwiz and RGB LEDs. it will light the buttons to match the original colors and layout of games when using MAME (or the zinc/model2 substitution mode via gameex, for that matter.. since the buttons are lit while actually still in the GameEx MAME list UI). it has attract modes too. you can make your own animations (.LWA files) etc.

seems a few people here use project 1964 and/or 1964 ... what are some of your favorite games and how well do they work for you? right now my list is rather small. mario kart 64, f-zero and fifa. these all seem to work well. im still a newb at this, soo... i have to explore more roms. i have a 4 player cp so im all about the n64 4p action.

now if i could only figure out why my stock tinyxp platinum2 w/ wmp11 and cccp + nv purevideo .. and about nothing else besides gameex and some emus... hangs when i go anywhere near a video in gameex =)

Is there something special I need to do to enable HTML support in the game history files? My game descriptions all have anchor tags linking to the arcade history site about that particular game .. I would think it could handle this like the RSS reader.

ahh it sounds like this is what u are doing here eh? http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=4509

any progress ? also, anyone know what MAME version ZINC expects the ROM formats to match ? also ---- it also sounds like the infamous/evil "mame plus plus" may be a way around this the one found here http://ddememame.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ i think this one is with kaillera http://ddememame.hp.infoseek.co.jp/mameppk...119-20070917.7z and i think this one is without http://ddememame.hp.infoseek.co.jp/neocpsm...119-20070917.7z but i dont speak japanese so im not sure

a nice CRT TV with component input .. being fed by a NVidia 7-series with component output (must be component...) looks great when you use Soft15KHz to make the card render internally at native arcade res... but then resample the picture at the TV output stage only. i've tried a couple configs, with svideo, composite, component .. and ATI 2600 vs NVidia 7-series .... the 8-series would be nice but it doesn't support the low arcade type resolutions, for whatever reason. it's hard to beat the authenticity of an arcade monitor, but they present their own 'challenges' ... as of lately QA seems to be a problem for some manufacturers, if word of mouth holds true. this nvidia 7/sdtv 480i component input config is the best compromise i have been able to come up with. and it is a compromise. i would imagine that a multisync 'video monitor' type unit would be very nice as well. like the sony "cube" monitors. things that have RGBHV BNC input or DSUB and can sync at 640x480 to even 1024x768... but still offer the nice 25" width. like the things video editors used.... before every studio started going HD. or CCTV systems.

hmm sorry if this was not clear or sounded weird what i am saying is just .. is there a way i can link a batch file or something similar only to ZINC loading and unloading, when used as a 'mame substitute' integrated into gameex's normal mame game list ? same with model 2 emu when used in the same way. it wasnt obvious to me how to specify startup/shutdown for these but maybe its a no brainer and i just need to poke around more...maybe in advanced config under the numbered emulator group settings?

i dont need anything specific to U360 and i dont need any plug in mods. I just need to know how to get Xpadder to remap a gamepad for use with Zinc ... specific to GameEx.
-
well the U360 plugin seems to work great for changing the mode of the U360 per game..................... but, the thing with ZINC is.. there is a plugin by someone named...hrm... winterblast? that adds gamepad support to zinc. well, it works great for some games. but some games don't work at all with this. so, this leaves the keyboard input as the 'works in all scenarios' solution still. seeing as how gameex likes to automagically download, install, configure and integrate zinc into the main mame list ... such that zinc is using the mame keys ... i would hope that i could map my U360s (which could be interchangeable with any gamepad/pc joystick for this situation)... using xpadder to the standard mame keys. i think i just need to create a mame key profile for xpadder using the main 2 sticks .. and another one with 'null' mappings .. and load these on start/exit of zinc using a batch file. where can i 'hook' the zinc start/end? it doesnt seem to be handled quite like the other emus.
-
I'd like to use Xpadder to map my Ultimarc U360's to the keyboard for use with Zinc. How can I run scripts at start up/shut down of ZINC when it's running in GameEx's "mame substitute" mode? Has anyone done this? Can they share what they have done? Is there a tutorial/howto somewhere?

i just set up my new pc in my cab. and i have a fresh xp install with the codec pack from www.ccp-project.net + nvidia purevideo dvd codec. every time i put the cursor over a video in the multimedia library ... the sound starts playing .. and it seems to lock up. i can select the item and hit play and the gameex screen goes blank as if it wants to embed the video player...the top bar with the back button is there.. but gameex locks up.. the audio keeps going. i tried it with k-lite codec pack..it did the same thing..then uninstalled...same thing..then cccp... not sure what i should be looking at for a fix?
