  1. hey greatflash, does Ecco actually work in nullDC? last time i tried to emulate it, was a very buggy and unplayable experience! but that was a fair while ago.
  2. No, just Goodmerge them again excluding the ones I don't want. It just takes a couple of presses.
  3. I usually just 7zip up the "verified" [E], and [J] ROMs from my Goodsets, as well as the different versions for each (if they exist) and all available Japanese-to-English fan translations. Then I can select whichever one I want by enabling 7zip support in GameEx! Having the Japanese ROM is just for the completist value, and having the European ROM is for nostalgia value since back in the day, games released in the PAL regions had a few differences due to the differences between 50hz and 60hz.
  4. No, it's not just you. It's because it converts the entire PDF into single JPGs when you open it.
  5. Is there another way to view Game Manuals, eBooks and Comics without extracting the PDF or images from a comic book .cbz archive? It takes about five minutes just to load one, which doesn't make sense for the .cbz in particular (readers like CDisplay show them on the fly, it's instantaneous - I can understand if this is the only way to do it with PDFs if it's Adobe's proprietary format). Is it possible?
  6. No, but strangely, if I have the .db file open in Access at the same time, it causes some to work and others not too. For instance, with the Saturn, if I don't have the .db open, "Astal" and "NiGHTS into Dreams" won't have their database info show up. If I do have it open, then they will work, but Burning Rangers and Shining the Holy Ark won't.
  7. For some reason, games aren't always being matched up with their emulator database entries in the MS Access databases. This is mostly happening for Sega Saturn, Sega-CD and Sony Playstation titles. Even if the name of the ROM identically matches the GoodName of the entry in the .db, the entry data won't show up in GameEx. I find, however, that sometimes these titles will randomly work, while other titles will lose their matched database information, even if nothing has been changed.
  8. We're actually going to be getting a HDTV in a couple of days due to our old CRT TV dying out. Is this something I'm going to have to look out for? Our HTPC runs GameEX, and along with an Xbox 360, Gamecube and (eventually) a DVD upscaler they're all going to be connected to the HDTV. I've been paying close attention to the Sharp LC42PD7X (1080p), due to it's lower price, good quality and DVI connection. Should I be safe with DVI? I don't think VGA gives a true 1:1 representation of a computer's output due to it being analog, so that's why the DVI is so appealing
  9. This may not be the most appropriate place to post about it, but seeing as there is discussion regarding codecs in here that many new members may seek out, I'd like to make it known that this tool modifies the DivX configuration tool to disable the system tray. Even registered users lack the option to disable the system tray, and this utility resolves this. It was designed for older versions of DivX, however, and attempts to modify "C:\Program Files\DivX\DivX\config.exe" which is in current versions: "C:\Program Files\DivX\DivX Codec\config.exe" To fix this, just rename the "DivX Codec" folder to "DivX" before running the system tray remover, and then rename it back after you're done. So for those who would like to stick with DivX, now you can without the system tray messing around with GameEx
  10. I still haven't figured out the link between the DATA\EMULATORS\*.mdb and ROM names in order to get the ROM descriptions to show up correctly. How come some show up, but others don't? Does the GoodName tag in the Access Database have to be exactly the same as the ROM name, including the "(U) [a1]" GoodTool code tags?
  11. You could have implemented an IRC plugin or client, that would allow those in GameEx to communicate with others idling in the chatroom. I'd definitely idle if there were an IRC channel! GameSurge and Chatspike are both quite good networks.
  12. Ooo thanks for the links! The torrent tracker I'm a member at only had images for no-intro romsets so that's what I was stuck with. Thanks again for the roman numeral issue, too! EDIT: Turns out some of the images I had downloaded (box and cart scans) were already in the GoodTools naming convention, but some things don't match up like (JUE) instead of (W). Could this be due to differences with the images being named according to an older version of GoodTools?
  13. Another question I have: games with roman numerals in the title like "Shining Force II" show up as "Shining Force Ii", is there any way to correct this?
  14. You're right, I didn't realise. I thought the JPEG filenames had to be the exact same as the ROMs but after testing, I realise GameEx works it out if they're different ie. "Alien 3 (UE) (REV01) [!].gen" and "Alien 3 (JUE) [!].jpg". Smart!
  15. That sounds like a great tool. The files I want to rename are the JPEGs though, not the ROMs, and I couldn't find any function in GoodTools to rename the JPEGs based on wildcards
  16. Hello, I've got a couple of questions. I really am beginning to love GameEx, it's an amazing tool and suits my needs thoroughly. My question is regarding the game descriptions that appear when browsing ROMs in GameEx - for example, when browsing N64 ROMs, not all of them have a description or publisher information/release year. I'm guessing this has something to do with the filename, or the name in the ROM's header (or whereever that type of information is kept). Is there any solution to this, so that each ROM will have the correct description and all? Also, is there any way to prevent the most recently played ROMs from appearing at the beginning of the list? Also, another question I had is about filenames - all of the ROMs I have are ordered by GoodTool naming conventions. I was wondering if there is any mass-renaming tool I could use that would assist in renaming the cart/box/snap JPEGs I have to match up with the filenames. Thanks
