Thank you for the suggestions. It was an upgrade from 8.1. I installed the filters and made sure NET Frame 3.5 was installed and I got the same error. I then reverted back to 8.1 and it was giving me the same error. So I said screw it and just did a fresh Win7 install and now its working fine.

I have an extra 13" VGA lcd screen that is sitting around and a Tablet. My Arcade VGA has an unused VGA port. Can I use this monitor for anything? Maybe some high score list? Displaying Maquees? Anything? Don't really need it for anything else and was thinking of just tossing it. Think its barely 720p. Thanks for any advice! BR

I think GameEX and MameHUB would benefit hugely by being part of the same package. I think maybe a collaboration by the two teams would be amazing. Any chance of that happening?

GameEx NetPlay - Client/Server MAME/Mess

Can anyone else see my SF2 game? Upgraded to ClientServerMAME 0.7b, that's all I'm suppose to do right? Just dump the files in my MAME DIR? Haven't seen any other games up in a week or two....? -
GameEx NetPlay - Client/Server MAME/Mess
bobross replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Hey Tom, Hope you don't mind a couple more observations/requests I remember from back in the Kaillera days you could sort by ping, semi-guaranteeing a decent experience. Could GameEx auto sort from lowest to highest ping? Is it true the two players need the exact same version of MAME? Could that be displayed? I remember this was important for Kaillera. Is it possible to move Mame net Play to be the second item on the menu list not the first? This might confuse guests. When joining a game I'm still getting this "freeze" where I seem to lose control and even ESC key does nothing for about a minute. cheers, BR -
GameEx NetPlay - Client/Server MAME/Mess
bobross replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Sorry for dropping out of the games whoever was playing. Some things I noticed: Huge lag making shmups very hard to play Very long blank screens making one wonder if anything is happening If you don't have C.S. mame file IN the mame DIR your hotrod won't work Would be nice if there was some sound indicating someone wants to join your game. I have my machine in the hall and I don't really want to just stand there hoping someone will eventually join - some sort of sound chime would be great Great feature though! /2¢ -
GameEx NetPlay - Client/Server MAME/Mess
bobross replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Is there some audio indication that someone has accepted my request? I have arcade ambiance running and the screen saver keeps starting. Unless I'm just sitting and watching and backing out of the screen saver.... I also notice pictures not showing up on my gamer card but game title is, something on my end? -
8.88 seems to have fixed the problem. I've successfully gone back to Direct Input, no problems so far. Thank you Tom and Brian!
-
Tried that didn't seem to fix the problem but see below... I was not using custom keyboard controls but I had "Enable Keyboard Direct Input" on like I always have. Turned it off now everything seems to work. Very Odd.

I upgraded from 8.79 to 8.87 and my Hotrod SE navigation went completely dead. Now GameEx 8.87 is crashing after it loads up. I didn't change any setting and I even did a semi-clean install, I uninstalled through windows but didn't manually delete the GameEx directory. I've attached the log file. 12:36:30.3 9/8/2007: GameEx: Version 8.87: Starting Log 12:36:30.7 9/8/2007: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 12:36:30.7 9/8/2007: Operating System Name: Windows XP 12:36:30.7 9/8/2007: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 12:36:30.7 9/8/2007: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 12:36:30.7 9/8/2007: .net Framework 1.1 Installed 12:36:30.8 9/8/2007: .net Framework 2.0 Installed 12:36:30.8 9/8/2007: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+, 1535MB 12:36:30.8 9/8/2007: 2.19Ghz 12:36:30.9 9/8/2007: Running Randomize() 12:36:30.9 9/8/2007: Loading PlugIns 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Running Misc startup tasks 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Setting Menu types 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Opening Configuration File 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Getting Configuration Values 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Using Theme: Default - GameEx 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - GameEx 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Using Images from theme: Default - MCE Glossy\MEDIA\ 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Launching HideOS.exe 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Hiding Taskbar 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Using Cabinet Friendly Control System 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Is Media Center running? 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Checking/Creating LCD Registry values 12:36:31.0 9/8/2007: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode 12:36:31.1 9/8/2007: Media Center Mode 0 12:36:31.1 9/8/2007: Video previews on. Looks like the issue is fixed after a "clean" install of Mame32 .118u2. Cheers, BR
-
This is something I can't seem to figure out. When I launch a game through Mame32 the artwork is cropped correctly, two parts of art on both sides of the game. When I run the same game through GameEx the artwork is displayed in full and the game image is shrunk to the center of the screen. I tried the "use bezel" enable/disable in GameEx but nothing seems to change. Any ideas? thanks, BR

Yup, that fixed it! Thanks Tom! Cheers, Bob

This just started after I did a windows update. Hey Tom, I noticed something strange with Daphne. When loading Dragon's Lair using the Daphne Loader (v2.1.45) with fast boot option enabled, the game loads instantly. Going through GameEx however, the game will take about 30 seconds to load as-if the fast boot option has become disabled. Do you know what could be happening? Cheers, BR

Ah ok, that explains it. I don't have anything else active except MAME and Arcade related emulators. No news or Radio for me, trying to stay arcade authentic. I thought the loading screen was for all GameEx/MAME "thinking", not just for specific GameEx loads. Cheers, BR

Hi Tom, It's not displaying at all. Even on certain Neo Geo loads that take a long time, nothing.

Hi Tom, I'm using the Default - Game Ex theme. For some reason during long waits, the wait animation isn't displaying, just a black screen. Is there some setting that would prevent this, even if I have the wait screen option turned on? I have the pleasewait.png and pleasewaitbar.png files in the root of the Default - Game Ex theme directory. Cheers, BR

Is Pilot Kids missing from anyone else's game list? Runs fine through Model2 app, but in GameEx it doesn't show up on the list.

Hey Tom Heh S.O.L. means Shit Outta' Luck I'm having video problems too. When I launch the games within the M2 emulator, they work fine. Through GameEx I get a black screen, but sound. Also the ESC key will not return me back, I have to end the M2 process. I am using Arcade VGA also.

Hi Tom, I'm having this problem too. My arcade monitor only supports 640x480, am I S.O.L?

Tom, GameEx 5.43 has fixed ALL of my problems! Thank you! Cheers, Jordan

Hey Tom, I'm just using the GameEX - Default theme. I've notice since version 5.4x GameEx is really chugging for some reason, used to be smooth as silk. Here is the 5.41 debug exe log. Hope it helps! Cheers, BobRoss debug_log.zip
