  1. UPDATE: Feel free for any moderator to mark this as "RESOLVED." I only left the "kill-steam.bat" remaining, since enough data was collected to load fast on startup.

    ePSXe Problems

UPDATE: NullPointer and I have been messaging back and forth, and the ePSXe issue is fixed and working. If any moderator would like to mark this as "RESOLVED."
  3. First off, the "GAME BOY" part of the logo was done by "naborneo", author of the "Ambient Occlusion" theme, so partial credit for this logo should go to him. The "COLOR" part of the logo, I designed. Basically, he developed the "Ambient Occlusion" theme, and it included a massive set of 3D logos that he made, which were VERY well done. However, I noticed the absence of a GAME BOY COLOR logo. So I decided to design one (or at least partially.) Originally, the reason why I used naborneo's GAME BOY logo for this, was for the sake of consistency, if someone wanted to add it to the Ambient Occlusion theme. It probably would have made more sense to just continue in that topic, as far as posting this. However, I figured the logo could realistically be used in any theme anybody wanted. Then again I wasn't sure if this should be its own topic, or with the Ambient Occlusion thread. If so, then I suppose one of the moderators could merge it. Anyway, enough of my ranting. Again, please give partial credit of this logo to naborneo. Enjoy!

That does help to some extent, since I didn't know what "profiles" actually were. I'll give it another whirl and dig into it as soon as I can. Thanks though, I do appreciate the support.
  5. Well it kills steam when I exit, but GameEx will minimize like before when I start it up. Might have to be one or the other.
  6. Worked like a charm!! Is there also a way to have steam close itself, when I leave Game EX, so I don't have to close steam after I close Game EX? If not, it's ok. Thanks again bud!

    ePSXe Problems

I downloaded emvoy. I'm guessing I was supposed to put the files and folders that were in the zip file into the same C drive directory that has similar named folders (ex: add the stuff in the envoy assets folder to the other game ex assets folder on the C drive, and so on.) Then I double clicked on the envoy program itself, and a bunch of words and code popped up, then disappeared. Then I went into Game EX and tried to launch a PSX rom again...... same result as before. Did I even set everything up right? I looked at the instructions on the website, and found them to be VERY complicated. I don't even know what half the terms mean. I wonder if nullPointer has been reading all this as well.

    ePSXe Problems

I mounted the .cue for a rom (which was basically a drag and drop, if I did it right.) Then I went to setup wizard, and where it says [-VIRTUAL DRIVE-] I put [J:] and It didnt work when I loaded up a rom, and I made sure that .cue files were showing in the GameEx rom menu, and also tried it with just .bin files showing in the menu. I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself here lol, but once I drag and drop a .cue into the virtual drive, where do I go from here? My command line looks like this "ePSXe.exe -nogui[-VIRTUAL DRIVE-]" and my virtual drive is J: How do I type this out properly? UPDATE: It only works in ePSXe by itself, when I have one .cue rom mounted to a virtual drive, and I go to ePSXe and hit "run CD rom", but that's as far as I can get. Will I have to do one rom per drive? I need help, lol UPDATE: Then I tried "Check for CD/DVD" and all it does is say "insert CD" when I click on the rom.
  10. As much as I love the AMAZING work I'm seeing here (seriously, great job)...... has ANYBODY noticed the lack of a "Game Boy Color" logo? lol I have every logo I need for the Ambient Occlusion theme, except that one... ... my OCD senses are tingling
  11. Staying on topic, regarding Steam. Dazzle, that did help to some extent. When steam started in the background, I had to maximize GameEx again, but no big deal. It did indeed start quickly, but it still took forever for GameEx to shut down upon leaving.

    ePSXe Problems

nullPointer, I'm actually looking into Daemon Tools Lite 4 as we speak to see if it helps. I think I also need a SCSI drive along with it, if my reading was right. Just gotta figure out how to use the thing, since I never worked with this kind of stuff before. Will it help combine the .cue and .bin files into one .bin file, so the command line will work? (assuming that's what I'm supposed to do.) UPDATE: I tried Daemon Tools, and gave it an SCSI drive. Not having a whole lot of luck. It will burn the 2 rom files together into one image, but it won't allow it to be a .iso, and .bin isn't listed. It only allows you to create images that have the file extensions .mdx and .mds, and .iso is only allowed for one file, not two. Even if you change the file extension of the image after it has been completed, it still doesn't work in ePSXe. .mds and .mdx obviously won't work in ePSXe.......... I am officially lost.

    ePSXe Problems

Now I have another problem. All my stuff is typed out with spoiler tags, and it won't post. It'll do its "Saving" thing, but then it won't actually post. UPDATE: Got it working. Hope this is correct.

    ePSXe Problems

Well basically this is where I'm at. I know for a fact that the .cue files are the ones that need to be run, since i ran the roms through ePSXe alone. Works fine. Then afterwards, I go to GameEX, the rom list looks good since I excluded all files to be shown on the list except for *.cue., I click on a rom, and I get a black screen with a picture of a sony controller in the upper right hand corner. It's the exact same process for the same roms. It works for ePSXe alone, but not through the GameEX menu. If it helps, my command line to run the emulator looks like this in setup wizard: "ePSXe.exe -nogui[-VIRTUALDRIVE-]" If a virtual drive is the solution, I'd have no idea where to begin. I don't know how to mount an image, or any of that stuff. If there is another solution, what should I do> If a virtual drive is the best bet, then how do I use it? log.txt
  15. Okay. Now I'm pissed. More problems. When I run MAME by itself, everything works fine. But if I run it through GameEX with its own MAME support, the sound is skippy. Not sure if the frames are skipping along with it. It does this for every rom, and every rom worked fine through MAME by itself. UPDATE: I turned on auto frame skip in the INI, and that fixed the sound, but now the picture is choppy. Even Vsync doesn't help. UPDATE: I dont know what I did, but Direct 3D magically works all of a sudden lol. Picture and sound are all good. FINALLY my MAME problems are over.... I think... And I'm sorry if I put up too many posts about it. log.txt
  16. I also tried putting them all in a ZIP file, and enabling ZIP support in the setup wizard. That didn't work either. lol There's gotta be a way to do this.
  17. log.txtI figured out how to merge the romsetes for the ePSXe game list, so it only lists one title each. However, when I click on it, it lists it twice in the "play this game" menu... I'm guessing because each rom consists of 2 files (.bin and .cue). I click on one of them and nothing happens. I click on the other, and I get a black screen.
  18. By suporting files, do you mean the INI file?
  19. I actually can't get ePSXe to run in GameEX either. On top of that, it lists the roms twice, because each rom has the .bin and .cue file for it, and I can't run one without the other.
  20. Well, after lots of pain-in-the-ass tweaking, I finally got everything up and running in MAME, the way I wanted it. Now all I have to do is look around for the missing files inside some roms. Thanks for your support, everyone!
  21. Okay. Now I'm having more problems. The list in the GameEX Mame menu is listing some roms I don't have and not listing some roms I do have. And my rom path in setup wizard is correct.
  22. BEAUTIFUL! Worked like a charm! MAME now works both ways! My native resolution is indeed set to 1920X1080 in setup wizard. What I was also trying to do here, for example, is to play the Mortal Kombat arcade rom, with the picture covering the whole screen, with no black borders. MAME only let's me do 4:3 or Pixel Aspect, which doesn't occupy the whole screen. Same issue with Marvel Super Heroes. However, it looked like I can change that in the mame INI. Having a little trouble understanding it though. I messed around with some options, and the resolution stays at 1280x720, when I want it at 1920x1080. I think the MAME menu itself is in 1080, but then the rom goes over to 720. However, I figured out how to switch from Direct3D to DirectDraw, and DirectDraw gave me 1920x1080. Now I'm trying to figure out how to add a smooth filter, since the pixels are slightly grainy. Direct3D was nice and smooth, but wouldn't go past 720 res. If I cant have both smoothness, and full 1080, I guess it is what it is, but I'll keep messing with the INI and see if I can figure it out. Thanks to all of you for your help so far! You've been VERY informative and supportive!
  23. Well, the command prompt is flipping me the bird lol. I am indeed greeted by my user directory, but I forgot how to drop down a directory and how to get to the mame directory. I tried things like cd:\ and typing the directory in.
