  1. I do have manuals, and can view them in GameEx without incident (which makes me think, why can't CPWizard view manuals using whatever underlying technology GameEx uses, instead of ghostscipt?). But, in any event, the error is thrown as soon as I hit "L." Also, before I even launch mame, I have the issue of no games being displayed when I select "preview." Thanks for helping!
  2. I'm new to the CPWizard (I downloaded and made a donation yesterday). I frustrated that I can't get it to work, because it looks so cool. Here are the problems I'm facing: 1) The program finds all of my mame paths just fine, but when I select "preview," there are are no games listed. (I point to my mame32.exe file). 2) I try it from within mame anyway, but when I hit "L" GhostScript gives an error. Then it just exhibits weird behavior and I have to kill the process in task manager. Any ideas?

    Issue with 9.26

Tom, I love the new feature of seeing the system image when viewing by system in favorites, BUT I noticed two problems with it: 1) The images are stretched. I have a wide-screen monitor, so that makes a tall skinny system, like GameBoy, look really weird. This is not a problem when the system images are displayed through the "Emulators" menu. (btw, I have GameEx set up so that the system images are the background, appearing behind the GameEx interface text.) 2) The list is alphabetical, whereas the list under the "Emulators" menu appears in the order I have set up in the wizard. (I like Daphne at the top, then the emulators, then the computers at the bottom.) Thanks Tom!
  4. One more suggestion: When I go to "Favorites" and then list by system, it lists the name of the system only. It would be REALLY NICE if it also displayed a picture of the emulated system, like it does when you go through the "Emulator" menu. I have so many roms, that I almost always choose my game by going to my favorites. But then I miss seeing my cool picture of the Atari 2600 and Game Boy, etc.
  5. Ok, will do. I have a couple of other ideas that I'll put there too. Thanks!!
  6. Oops, this was supposed to go in "Feature Requests." I'll repost it there. [sorry!]
  7. I have GameEx set up so that the background is the video snap for the selected game (so that the video appears below the GameEx interface text). It also displays the artwork, marquees, control panels, PCBs, etc in this way. When you click on any on the artwork, you get to see it full screen, without any of the interface text on top of the image. EXCEPT for the game video preview. There is no way to see that without the the interface text overlaying it. Suggestion: It would be great if there were a list item called "video" that would just show the video full screen, like the other art work.
  8. Here are my thoughts on how something like this would ideally work: The custom paths idea is problematic because some games have a lot of flyers that I'd like to display. For example, if you go to The Arcade Flyer Archive, you'll find that, for example, Astro Blaster has 6 separate flyers, and 8 if you include the German flyers. I don't want to add a separate custom path for each flyer. Instead, I want to be able to name them sequentially and have GameEx display them in the Flyer category automatically To answer Tempest's question, I think it would be great if GameEx both advanced through the flyers automatically after a user set time delay, and also overrode that and displayed the next flyer if a user defined key was pressed. Also, there is no reason why this couldn't be expanded to all of the artwork categories as well, so that you could have more than one cabinet picture or control panel picture. THEN, just to make the implementation perfect, GameEx could ALSO allow the user to specify custom paths , which would then behave as above. So, for example, I could have a custom folder called "Side Art" and I could have multiple pictures in the folder of the cabinet's side art. What do you think???
  9. Yeah, I thought of that, but I'm using all of the built-in categories. (I like the PCBs!) Maybe I can get rid of title, which isn't really necessary since I have movie previews. It seems like it wouldn't be too hard for Tom to make this a new feature by either allowing multiple images (they could be named sequentially, like dkong, dkong002, dkong003, etc. I think emu Loaded can do this), or by allowing custom paths to other folders.
  10. Is there a way for GameEx to display more than one flyer (or snap or marquee for that matter)? For some games, there are many very interesting flyers, but I only know how to pick one to display.
  11. Not really a cabinet as such, but this is my setup: GameEx with mame and lots on emulators utilizing EmuMovies on a 42" pioneer plasma:
  12. Actually, I know my way around MS Access pretty well, so that helps. Thanks!
  13. Is there a way to reset the statistics?
  14. I'd like the screen saver exit sound to play anytime the screen saver exits. I.e., I don't want to wait until the screen save has been running for 6 minutes. they exit sound I have is way too cool to wait 6 minutes to hear.
  15. Yes, that did it. Fraps works great. Thanks!
  16. I looked at the program you suggested and it has the same problem that other programs I've tried out have: in order to capture VIDEO (as opposed to just what's going on in your browser, for example) you have to turn off hardware acceleration. The problem is that a lot of games need hardware acceleration to in order to run (like need for speed). So I'm not sure what to do. Of course, sites like IGN and GameSpot always have video of games, so I know it's possible, but I just don't understand how they do it. Any ideas?
  17. Thanks, I'll try out the program. And yes, I do have my PC set up as an emulator, using the PC Game database from ShAddiX to get game descriptions. It looks awesome with AVI previews!
  18. I want to capture video of PC games like need for speed or lego star wars that I run in my cab so that I can make previews that will show up in GameEx. Any suggestions of how to go about this or what software I should use?.
  19. When you click on "favorites" and then click on "By System" it would be nice if it showed the same image file for the system that it does under emulators so that you get a nice picture of the console.
  20. Ability to sort emulators without that messing up your favorites. As it works now, you can use the wizard to sort your emulators, but then all the favorites associated with the emulators (potentially hundreds of games across many emulators) forget which emulators they're favorites of.
  21. I thought Iâ??d re-post this here since the discussion seems to have been dropped in the main section. Itâ??s more of a feature request at this point anyway. Here is my original post, along with bkenobiâ??s suggestive response: I used the setup wizard to re-order my list of emulators so that all the Atari's were next to each other, the Nintendo's were next to each other, etc. BUT, then I looked at my favorites, sorted by system, and they were all wacky! The Atari 2600 games were listed under Colecovision, the Sega games were listed under NES, etc. It seems that the associations didn't survive the re-ordering. Any suggestions? Bkenobi then wrote: Since this is all within GameEx, why can't the request just be to have GameEx update the list whenever you reorder or add emulators? Or delete emu's as well. This shouldn't be a major task. If an emulator is moved or removed and there are favorites associated with it update the list of favorites to change "Emu 2 Game 11" to "Emu 3 Game 11". This is something that is probably just an oversight anyway...
  22. Well, that's what I'm trying to avoid. Too many emulators and too many favorites to have to rebuild the list every time I add an emulator and re-sort the list. It would be better, of course, if the favorites list was just preserved upon re-order.
  23. 24. Ah yes, I see that now. Thanks. Now go back to your pint, and have one for me!
  25. Version 8 is great! It would be nice if you could easily re-order the list of emulators, so that, for example, all the Nintendo emulators could be next to each other, the Atari, etc. without having to re-enter them all in the right order.
