  1. Ok, great. Thanks!
  2. What does the update to the LCD plugin consist of? [Edit: Nevermind, I misread that and thought it said "LED plugin" and was referring to Headkaze LCD/LED Plugin]
  3. I checked all the obvious things. It's checked in the plugin manager and MAME paths are set correctly. Everything works except the announcment of the button names. It lights up only those buttons that the game uses just fine, and the attract mode animations work too. It also announces the game name on launch and plays the sounds I have set up to when attract mode is started and exited. I thought that it might be conflicting with CPWizard, because both are initiated when MAME is paused, but this happens even if CPWizard is not running. Like I said, it used to work, so maybe it's something in a recent GameEx update that's causing the problem. Any further ideas?
  4. Now that I have figured out that it's the LCD/LED Plugin in that has this feature, my problem is that when I pause MAME it used to announce the button assignments like this: Girl: "Player One, Button One" Guy: "Jump" Now it doesn't do that anymore. Everything else works. Any ideas as to why it stopped working, or what I can do to diagnose the problem?
  5. What do those settings do, anyway? [EDIT]: Ok, I see that "This automatically enables KeyboardDirectInput., Default is False. This may also be needed for IPAC."
  6. Just wanted to thank all the GameEx users and developers for their help in getting my Arcade Odyssey machine all configured. It was a six month process building it, but now I get to PLAY! It's running just about every emulator, CPWizard, Ultrastick Plugin, Xpadder, and all the other bells and whistles the community has to offer. And all being controled via the phenomenal GameEx. I am consistently amazed at everyone's level of commitment. Thanks so much for doing what you do! I posted a slightly different version of this vid over on BYOAC too, so sorry for the repetition. 7. Is GameEx just in your Startup folder? If so, (From a google search): ...try a shortcut mentioned in this Microsoft article, Troubleshooting the Startup Process, which is to simply hold down the Shift key while booting your machine. Doing this disables programs set to load in the following locations: systemdrive\Documents and Settings\Username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup systemdrive\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup windir\Profiles\Username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup windir\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup In order for this to work, you have to continue to hold down the Shift key until all the desktop program icons have appeared.
  8. I tried out Tempest's solution last night (using DisableScreenSaver.exe) and it worked like a charm. The only thing that I needed to do a little differently is that I had to use the "Launch Also" not "Launch Before" option. Otherwise, the emulator never came to the foreground (or maybe it never even launched). And killing the process with launch after worked fine. Thanks for the solution!
  9. I just looked at their website, and the Cheesecake Factory is indeed curiously absent from Michigan, although they have stores in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Hmmmmm. I think there is a conspiracy. Do you have an strong anti-cheescake lobby?
  10. Wow, that's great. I'll try it out as soon as I can and post the results.
  11. I use GBA for Gameboy Advance, but think that BGB does a better job with Gameboy and Gameboy Color. I'm going to take a look at KiGB as well, and see if it has this problem with using a gamepad. If so, then I'll stick with BGB and use your idea of mapping buttons to keys with xpadder (thanks!). But I'm wondering if this will be a problem with all emulators and if there is a way for GameEx to temporarily suspend the screen saver while an emulator is running.
  12. I have BGB set up as a Gameboy emulator and it launches from GameEx and plays just fine. The problem is that the Windows screen saver goes off while the emulator is running (and I don't want to permanently turn off the screen saver). Any ideas as to how I can stop this from happening?
  13. YES! I have always thought this. I am always excited when a new version of GameEx is announced--especially if it has new features-- and then I'm dismayed when I can't FIND the new feature, or even worse, I can't even understand what the new feature is based on the short description in the "News."
  14. I think I figured it out: Some of the zip files have multiple versions of a table in them. If that's the case, then GameEx doesn't list "Play this game" as an option, but instead creates an item for each fpt in the zip file. You select one of those to play the game. If there is only one fpt in the zip, then GameEx does give you the "Play this game" option, so it seems to be working as intended. As a side question, any idea why ten different versions of a table are included in a zip? That's annoying! I just want the latest one that works!
  15. I have future pinball setup with "Zip/7-Zip/Goodmerge: Yes" and all the tables are in zip files. But it seems that GameEx is not extracting them properly. "Play this game " is not listed as an option. When I look in the directory structure, I see the files that GameEx has extracted, but when I try to load them directly through Future Pinball, it gives an error. But if I extract the same table myself, with WinRar, then it loads fine into FP. Any ideas?
  16. Ok, so I read the replies a bit more carefully, and it seems that "Support second image" refers to the ability to have a second image displayed in the game list. Got it.
  17. There is a new feature "Support second image." What does that mean? Does it mean that I can have multiple flyer images? More than two? How do I name them? How do I navigate between the two (or more) images? Or am I completely off base here, and "image" refers to something else? I'm just saying, if you don't follow the board every day, then just seeing "Support second image" doesn't really tell you anything.
  18. How exactly does the "second image" feature work? I don't get it.
  19. Just curious: why should one use "standard mame" with GameEx instead of mame32?
  20. Where did you get your cab? It looks like a slikstik. I like your CP layout!
  21. I really like this theme, but I didn't see it in the themes section. Is it available for download now?
  22. You rule!!! Thanks so much! (that was my number-one most wanted feature)
  23. I am running 9.28. When I set "Background Mode" to "Display Background Images" it works fine, but when I set to my preferred "Use Game/Item Images as background" then I get no image. Also, when I select MAME (in the mode that works), it doesn't display an image, although all the other systems do display in that mode. While I'm at it, is it possible to display the favorite systems in the order you have them set up, rather than alphabetically?
  24. >Fixes aspect ratio of system logos in favorites Actually, now it does not display any image at all, although it still works fine if I go through the "emulator" menu, but not seeing any system pics under favorites/by system.
  25. I was using mame 111. I upgraded to 125 and everything works perfectly. Sorry for the trouble!
