  1. I'd love to be able to lift some sound clips or music clips directly from the pin ROM... I suppose the same could be done by lifting the audio from a gameplay video of whatever table it happens to be. That might be easier, actually. I'm gonna make some recordings...
  2. I wanted to get a little discussion going about some good choices for background music for PinballX, or for particular tables, since we have this feature. First person to suggest "Pinball Wizard" gets smacked. What I'd really like to have is a sound sample of each table to play when it comes up on the selection wheel. Like a voice from the game, or a sample of the music; just a couple seconds long. Any suggestions on how to get or make such a recording?
  3. Oops, I thought I included the Stern logo. Here it is. Also found a visual pinball logo, but I couldn't tell you where it orginially came from.
  4. Attached a few that I have, will any of them work for you? I've never even SEEN what Game Plan's logo is... just only the name written out on machines.
  5. Connect the button lights to a 5v (yellow) and ground wire on an extra 4-wire molex from the PC's power supply. If you have more than one button to light, there should be plenty of juice to sting them all together.
  6. Already can do that. Adjust your keybindings in the setup wizard to your magnasaves.
  7. For what its worth, my score displays are working fine. Not to sound snarky, but you actually need to get a high score and replace the defaults in the game before you will see your own initials and score on the info screen... It shows the table's high scores, not your personal scores from playing.
  8. Darnit I wish I lived in Sussex! What you are afraid to do really is not that difficult, although some of it can be tricky. Nothing that will blow up, anyway. If you have a friend who is good at putting together computers, they can probably figure out the rest as well. You should also try posting for some help over at vpforums.org since they have a larger userbase and might have someone nearby if you dont find someone here.
  9. My soothing voice is guaranteed to help you fall alseep at night! youtube link: http://youtu.be/WO9AVlAgxjQ
  10. I actually like having the instructions shown on the backglass, as long as it can be closed so as to not cover up the backglass image. I would prefer to be able to read it up on the back, while having a full view of the playfield to see what targets the instruction sheet refers to. Asking to much? Maybe, but that's just how I would like it to be...
  11. That does the trick. I was able to take out one of the sleeps and the timing is just right.
  12. in the setup wizard, I found the new "instructions" command and keymapped it to the letter (i). Playing a table, it does nothing. Pressing (p) brings up the normal menu and the instructions can be picked there. Along with this, is it possible to only have the instructions show up on the playfield, and then return to the table after pressing a key? When I return to play, the instruction card remains on the backglass with my DMD over top of it. Looks kinda silly.
  13. At least yours starts... I put pinballx in my startup folder and it started correctly once. Each time I've started the machine since, it ignores it. Is it possible to include something as part of the setup program to check pinballx to automatically start when windows does? I know, I know, tossing a shortcut into the startup folder SHOULD do it, but mine doesn't like it I guess.
  14. Here's a quick one I made for Corvette, since the one that comes in the media packs is hideous. Just pulled from the backglass with the Corvette lettering put over top. Classy.
  15. I really like the infomation screen, especially the "number of times played." It would be interesting to have sorting categories of "Most Played" and "Least Played" tables, showing the top five and bottom five, respectively. I also missed the nvram path in the setup the first time through and I thought the highscore wasn't working. Looks good now! With all the different things to look at now, I think I am going to need to add some more buttons to my cabinet. Especially PAUSE!
  16. Draco, keep your mouth closed so you don't drip on the keyboard... LOL Those photos were taken in my old little room at my old house, here's a photo of me working on the pin cabinet the other day in my "new" place... You can see some of the bar in the background and the pool table at the far end of the room. I'm actually sitting in the middle. Main computer desk and room-width fireplace is behind me. I love my funky 1970's basement. This is half of the total basement. Other half has laundry room and my workshop.
  17. When I want to upgrade to a newer version of PinballX, be it v1.46 or in the future, do we just download the new setup/intaller? Will my table database, previews, logos, etc be retained?
  18. EDIT - 07/15/2013: youtube link to pinballx cabinet demo: http://youtu.be/WO9AVlAgxjQ I've just come back to working on my cabinet after a looong time of it sitting on the back burner out of frusteration with the performance of HyperPin. I've just loaded it with PinballX and I'm in love again! It's a "mini" size cabinet I originally intended to be a somewhat portable tabletop unit, but now I'm finishing it with fixed legs as a mini floor model. I'll post up some photos soon of its current state. Here's some of the early photos of the cabinet being built
  19. I've got the opposite... Pressing R or L Shift (flipper buttons) on my keyboard (wireless USB), I can zip through the table selection if I hold the key down to long. When I press the flipper buttons on my cabinet, which are sent through the I-Pac (PS/2), I only go one table at a time (or skip through the alphabet with my nudge buttons). Holding the cabinet button does not keep the wheel continuously spinning.
  20. I'd love to have some sort of delay or confirmation to close a table when hitting the "exit" button... In case of an accidental bump of the button.
