  1. I am building my Arcade Cab computer and was going to put on MCE 2005 so I can utilize all of GameEX, but I heard that it is a system resources hog. I am putting in an Athlon 3700 in order to help with some of the newer fighting games, but don't want to use MCE if I am shooting myself in the foot by using MCE. This Cab will solely be for emulating games, with maybe some jukebox capabilities and photo slideshows. I am not going to be watching movies or recording TV. Thanks for your opinions...
  2. Right on. I will check into that. Thanks.
  3. I have the MAME Screensaver and when I run Musicmatch Jukebox, if I step away for awhile with music playing and the screensaver kicks on, it distorts the music. When I come back, the screensaver will be on and the music will sound garbled. If I press stop and then play again, it plays fine. Anybody else have a conflict with MMJukebox and the screensaver or any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.

    NEW idea

Thanks, both of you. I am looking forward to the new area. Once again, the community benefits from your (now both of you) dedication. (Do I sound like a suck-a$%?)

    NEW idea

I really like that idea, as I would like to learn how to do it but don't even have a cluse as to where to start.

    ZiNc Problems

Thanks. Looks like I will trudge through the process. I've got a Slikstik coming and want to be able to use it for ZiNc.
  7. Currently, I am using: AMD Athlon XP2800+ 400MHZ FSB 1GB DDR 3200 RAM NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 8X AGP and I can run most everything smoothly, including ZiNc (with the exception of Tekken 3, which runs at 45-50 FPS). That being said, there are games, like NFL Blitz that I am not sure are playable even with the top-end computers. I agree with djrobx on the price/performance ratio. If you can swing it, it's worth the loot.

    ZiNc Problems

Alright, last but not least. I am stumped on how to get ZiNc to use the same keyboard and joystick settings as MAME does. Can anybody throw me a bone, please?

    ZiNc Problems

Well, first I apologize for wasting anybody's time. I figured out how to change the .cfg file, but it still just goes blank and then goes back to the selection screen. Any ideas?

    ZiNc Problems

I have Zinc config'd the way people have written about on this forum, but when I load a game through MAME (or when I tried it through Playstation Games), the screen goes black, it pauses for a few seconds and then goes back to the game description screen. I've set it up like this: UseZinc=True ZincEXE=zinc.exe ZincPath=C:\Program Files\Emulators\Zinc ZincOptions=--renderer=.\renderer.znc and I've seen a couple posts about this: Have you got: FullScreen = 1 in renderer.cfg? ...but I don't know how to check the renderer.cfg file. Can someone please help me? Thanks in advance for your patience and help.
  11. MAN, I can hardly play any of my games because I am always messing around with the new updates!!! Thanks again for all your hard work. Every release has something great that I enjoy. Anxious to see how PinMame works with a gamepad (while I wait FOREVER for my SlikStik to come it).
  12. Just wanted to drop a line and say thank you, not only to Tom Speirs, but to eveyone that contributes to this forum. I am active in several forums on different subjects, and the biggest problem I have (and what keeps me from posting most of the time) is the arrogance that seems to be prevelant in most forums. People are quick to jump down others throats for asking the wrong question or if they are suspected of "not doing their work" before posting an issue or a question. In this forum, however, there seems to be an air of patience and community and I think that is very important and much appreciated. I know I've posted more than once and thought to myself later that that was a silly post, but I've never felt that from anybody else in this community. Sorry to wax so long on the subject, but I feel it is important. Thanks again.
  13. Thanks, everyone!
  14. First, this screensaver is fantastic. I have poker nights and like to have the attract mode playing while we play cards, but I also listen to music and sometimes want to be more selective about my tunes than using the playlist function in GameEX. This way, I can play individual albums and still have the attract mode playing. Thanks for your hard work. I know this was touched on in the first topic for this forum, but it would be nice to implement the game manager functions that you have in GameEX. I also have this screensaver on my laptop at work and it would be nice to filter out the Adult Games so I don't have to explain why "Boobie Tetris" showed up on my computer while I was out getting coffee. Right now, I am having to filter through the ROMS and delete the ones that are of ill repute. I think someone else mentioned being able to have only your favorites list play as well. That would be nice. I'm sure these are already on the burners, but wanted to mentiion it as well. Thanks again.
  15. This is probably a silly newbie question, but where do I add the command lines? In GameEX, or in MAME32?
  16. Sounds cool, but when I google for MAME Screensaver, the only similar thing I can find is Any Saver. Is this what you are talking about?

    Any crashes?

I have changed from the "video fun" theme and have had no further hang ups when GameEx is starting, with or without the jukebox.

    Any crashes?

Please disregard my previous post, as I am haning up at the startup screen again. This is with the jukebox disabled and happens even if the computer is warmed up. I have not added any software and am confused by this. I have been able to exit GameEx, though, instead of having to shut down the computer. The log doesn't give me any clues, it's very similar to the one I posted earlier. Here is that last of the log from my current hang up. 05:07:00.6 7/28/2005: Loading last used Game List 05:07:01.0 7/28/2005: Loading Music Play List 05:07:04.1 7/28/2005: Creating DirectSound Device 05:07:04.1 7/28/2005: Trying: Primary Sound Driver 05:07:04.1 7/28/2005: Loading Sound Files 05:07:04.2 7/28/2005: DirectSound Device Created Successfully 05:07:04.2 7/28/2005: Creating ICONS 05:07:04.2 7/28/2005: Restoring Cached ICONS from File 05:07:05.7 7/28/2005: Initialising DirectInput for Gamepad support 05:07:06.3 7/28/2005: Using Device Logitech RumblePad 2 USB 05:07:06.4 7/28/2005: Playing Startup Video 05:07:06.4 7/28/2005: Playing intro sound file 05:07:06.4 7/28/2005: Initializing MCE Remote 05:07:06.4 7/28/2005: Initialization OK! 19. I finally had a chance to try the last VPAuto that Tom added to this thread and everything works perfectly. Thanks Tom, and eveyone else, for your help.

    Any crashes?

Alright. I've been hanging up again when GameEX tries to start, but I went back and turned off the jukebox function and now everything works fine all the time. I don't know if it is because my songs are on a different drive or because my playlists are extremelly large, but that seemed to fix my problem.
  21. Paco62

    Any crashes?

Alright, here is the log. It will generally hang and I can't exit the program, though the cursor will move around. I can't exit using Ctrl+Alt+Delete either. I generally have to turn the machine off. Sometimes if I let it sit, the monitor will go black and click like it's trying to change resolutions. Anyway, hope this helps. Sorry, I've been out of town. Next time this happens I will post the log. Thanks.

    Any crashes?

One thing I've noticed is that when I boot up my computer and then run GameEx, it will lock up on the opening sequence, when the first graphic shows up. It didn't used to do this on the older version. It appears that if I let my computer sit for a few minutes, it doesn't tend to hang up, but I haven't played around with it enough to know for sure if that is the case.
  24. Added new vpauto.exe and it switches from Pinmame back to GameEx just fine, but leaves "Quit to Editor" and the table still running on the desktop. MapKeys are set to false. Am I just missing something here?
  25. My GameEx is running under C:\Program files\gameex, could that be part of my problem with the "quit to editor"? That would certainly suck to have to reinstall everything, but If that will get it working correctly, I guess it's time to bite bullet...
