  1. But that's what GameEx is designed to do. MAME and the other emulators are all programs that you launch from the front end. I know what you mean, but...
  2. Pics should really go in the sticky thread for "Machines Running GameEx" to keep the site clean!
  3. Wow, that was technical. Any chance you can dumb that down? I've tried playing with scanlines in the past but never seemed to get anything working that looked better. I'm sure I was just doing it wrong though.

    Flash Games

You mean like have a frame where flash games could play. That might be interesting for smaller sized flash games. I would be concerned about how to handle larger games, though. Interesting idea though!
  5. Some people have reported slow machines taking in the hours to build the list, but I've never had to wait more than 30 minutes with my 3000+. Just FYI.
  6. 2 SNK LS-30 rotary joysticks Happ horizontal pushbuttons (7 button Neo Geo/SF config) GP-WizRX-ST (GP-Wiz with built-in rotary encoder) 2x Scorpion3 PS2 light guns
  7. You have to use the vanilla build of MAME to build the list. I don't think all builds are fully compatible with outputting what GameEx needs for whatever reason. Basically, if you want to use advanceMAME, you still need a vanilla mame for setting everything up and then turn on advMAME for playing.
  8. I love megaman ...errr...In a MANLY way! You know, not gay or anything like that.
  9. You know, now I do recall having to change the ini to set fullscreen for Model2 to work. It's been so long, I forgot.
  10. I have used the alternate config via command line in the past. I don't remember what the switch is, but basically you call GameEx from the command line with the switch and the alternate config name. So, for example: GameEx.exe -config AltConfig.ini You will need to check the syntax as I don't have it in front of me. I can try to remember to login to that machine and see exactly what it is if you can't find it. I suspect that it would be possible to try GameExe.exe -help as well.
  11. You need to make sure that advancemame works on its own before you try it in GameEx. You will be debugging too much at once. Your best bet is to either run it from the command line like original MAME, or try it with one of the simple loaders (I think the advancemame team even has one). However, just as an aside, I was able to get it going just by putting the advancemame files in my main MAME dir and telling GameEx where stuff was. Your error sounds like a compatibility problem with Vista, but it could be something that can be fixed by trying the above...
  12. That's pretty damn cool, however it sounds like it's financially limiting at the moment. I mean, if you can just buy a PS2 for under $100 on ebay, I would think it pretty hard to justify the hardware for that emulator alone. OTOH, if you already have that stuff for PC gaming or something, might as well give it a go! Now, wait another 1-2 years and we'll see. Of course, that's how emulation goes, right
  13. If you go left/right, it goes by letter. If you go up/down, it goes by page. You can do either on the fly!
  14. Yeah, I'd agree that this is more likely a problem with one of your roms having a strange name, a really long total path, is corrupt, or something similar. There shouldn't be a problem with GameEx limiting the number of roms to 25. I would do what Brian suggested and make a new folder with ~25 in it. Then if it works, add another 25. When it breaks, you will have your problem narrowed down to a list of ~25 roms that at least one of which is a problem. This could be tedious, but at least it's something to try. Once you figure out which one(s) it's balking at, you can either rename it or remove it. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  15. In general, if the files are compressed when you get them, they should be usable that way. For example, Sega Master System roms are not zipped and I don't think any emulator can run them zipped. MAME roms are zipped and will not run if they aren't zipped. There are ways to store them compressed and extract them at runtime to save HDD space, but that's another story...

    beta db's

WOW! I didn't realize that DB had the controls and everything. That's a goldmine!
  17. NP!
  18. That would definitely help having the mouse enabled in MAME in the first place! I have this in the MAME.ini file (or whatever it's called).
  19. Nologic cleaned out a bunch of his files a couple months back and killed all sorts of links (good one dude ). I believe all of those files were put on the GameEx front page under utils or something.
  20. Hmmm, good point. My guns are configured as mouse2 and mouse3. When I'm in Windows, I can move the mouse around with the guns and interact with windows since I have LMB mapped to trigger. How do you have your guns set up? If they are mice, then they should work in windows as a mouse. If they don't work there, they will never work in MAME.
  21. Some games are 2 player but they use the same joystick for both. MAME doesn't change the original function of the game, so despite the fact that you have 2 joysticks, the game will only use the first one swapping for both players. Other games do swap so you need to have 2 joysticks. Basically, there's nothing wrong with the game, MAME, GameEx, or your controls. That's how the game was designed.

    beta db's

Should be pretty sweat! Where do these web sites get the info in the first place? Probably doing similar to what we've been doing here I suppose...

    beta db's

Damn! A 50mb text file is pretty impressive. I've made bigger ones...but they are usually error logs from my analysis programs at work. Out of curiosity, did you take into account the format of the file(s) so that it will be easy to import into a DB (e.g., csv or another flat DB format)? I haven't played with flat formats in a while and wish I knew more Being a .NET programmer, I'm guessing you chose XML.
  24. I wrote one a while back (with help of course) that would turn mouse movements into keystrokes for GameEx. In my case, I needed both axis to send the same key, but it could be modified if needed. Give it a try. Mouse2Key__GameEx_.zip
  25. That's a good point. I don't remember installing either .NET or DX9 when I installed last on a fresh XP machine.
