In attempt to provide full configuration and access via GameEx Online with the web Setup Wizard for current and future projects the site now allows local directory and file browsing for remote paths. This will be also good for upcoming projects not on windows platfforms. I learnt a liitle about jquery doing this for the popup browser on the site. This change requires an update to the client to work. I also moved back to .net 6 from .net 7. .net 7 actually seemed to perform worse and excluded older windows os versions such as 7. I've also spent some time optimizing gameex.com and pinballx.com on Google page speed insights. So hopefully the sites shouild perform a little better for youi on mobile devices. I guess I missed this sorry. Im not aware of any bug to this affect. There was a bug a while back but I fixed it. Hard to know whether the user is using the latest version without log files but if I did fix any bugs then it would be a feature request.

i would think its a bug in MAME. I've attempted to improve landscape setups and desktop mode in this release. There is a new wheel list type in this release. Allowing the existing curved wheel and a new straight wheel. The straight wheel avoids filling the display with logos and obscuring the table video. By default (auto) it is straight in landscape and curved in portrait. Can be adjusted under display settings.

Works fine for me. it looks like your configuring MAME as an emulator rather than using the specific mame support. Disable the MAME emulator. Then setup MAME under the MAME section.

You said "I hit continue etc but it seemed to have failed. ". There should be no issue with Windows 7. It was fine last time I tested. May just be bad luck. Your not on your own, just don't expect compensation!

PS: If you skipped through the exceptions the first time it might be wise to do it on the undo. Just a thought. It may not have completed everything and got as far as changing the shell.

Its documented out there. Yes expect so, no cursor etc. Just go into mouse in control panel and set default.

Sorry, really no idea and I have not tested with windows 7 for quite some time but definitely looks like a user rights issue to me or your using a lite version of windows 7 with missing components. Ill test it with windows 7 soon but I cant think of any value running 7 over xp now as there both security risks and neither support nvme as far as I know. Other than that maybe check on the file it mentions. Make sure it is there and you have rights to it. C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\backgrounds\backgrounddefault.jpg

Glad you got it sorted but I think I was correct that it needed to be in quotes. Did you actually try that?

I wonder if it is GameEx_Background.exe? If you have your gameex (online) credentials setup there is an option to run in background. This does two things, allow GameEx Online to run and download artwork. Its safe to turn off.

I expect so. 0.31 is an incredibly old version of MAME. Like from the 2000's.
