Testers Needed for new MP4 videos from EmuMovies

Been using the scene transitions for over a year and a half now, it's not supposed to be a slow transition or delay anything. This is not a new thing or a change that has anything to do with the switch to mp4.

Is there a certain set that you are looking at tom? Sound starts on the first frame and video literally starts on the second frame of a 30fps video. The overall transition is only supposed to last about 1/2 of a second.

I removed the first second of the transition, In this latest version of my script there was an error.

It is slightly better but I am still not really keen on the fade in. It does seem to detract a little when using GameEx. I can understand it would work nice with something like Hyperspin but with GameEx its more about list browsing and snappiness.

The other day I added a seek offset feature to GameEx though which is customizable and seeems to work very well.

Ok good, 90% of all sets are like this but an offset of 1 sec or so should remove it

Yeah just over a second works well for me. Of course others may like the fade thats why I posted in public to see what folks thought.

I think having the flexibility to decide is cool, but, ultimately, if there is a trade-off in speed of snap display for the sake of fade, then I have to side on speed. A seek offset sounds good so long as it does not compromise the speed of display overall.

It didnt seem to affect speed at all in my tests. Your right though in that it could potentially slow things down.

This new codec is incredibly more efficient than AVI at stuff like this, there should be 0 effect on performance with the mp4's

Yeah I agree, its a good move going to h264. Perhaps I am too nice but I still think you should keep the old avis available for the more legacy FEs, at least for the moment, but thanks Circo this is a good thing, no disputing that.

I am keeping the existing avi's on the emumovies ftp, at least until mala gets everything working. I think we are going to package up a little utility to 1 click convert the mp4's to avi as a long term solution.

That makes sense. It should only be the container that needs converting, no need to reencode, correct, or have I got that wrong?

By the way if loadman gets really stuck on the video stuff I would probably be willing to share my com library with him if HK agrees.
