cervante Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Im undecisive on buying it although I have found myself playing more mobile games these days, but the whole thought of a touchscreen as a gamepad takes up space with my thumbs sometimes making me lose a game or screwing up on gameplay. Can this phone replace my ipodtouch/3ds & my Evo-4g? Quote
Adultery Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Well...As a long time fan of Sony and their abilities to rock mobile gaming, I'm definitely thinking I want this. I already use Android FW (Gingerbread will be an upgrade for me, I'm still on Froyo) and I love it, and this phone could potentially replace my DS and PSP (at least until the PSP2 comes out). I really love the play buttons where the keyboard usually is, and Sony's already got a stream of good games out for this on the Android Market. My GameInformer had some awesome screenies of some crazy cool games coming out/in development for this little bad boy, and I honestly can't recall the last time I was this psyched about a phone! I am also reminded of how good a job Sony usually does with walkmans (I currently use a Sony X-series), and am looking forward to this being the be-all end-all of Smart Phones. If it's as cool as I hear it is, I'll cry when it finally dies! That being said, it makes me a tinge nervous that Sony Ericsson seems to be the "jack of all trades, and master of none", but I'm willing to bite that bullet and give it a try anyways. For those who haven't seen it:I'm on board with this, just gotta wait forever for it to finally hit my cell provider. Quote

My concern is that, in some cases, you lose one capability and it shags the rest (Some all-in-one printer/fax/copier/scanners come to mind). Not that there isn't a place for such. I guess some of the same concerns I have with running a gazillion emus and having some play nice, most mediocre and some not worth the hassle in the end because the tech hasn't caught up to the desire just yet. That thing has been really good to me, and I still use it all the time. I can play games on the Android already, and to actually have dedicated gaming controls would be a huge plus!Of course, all that will go right out the window when the PSP2 (or NGP as Sony calls it) comes out next year. mesk Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Exactly-you use a modded psp.you use it in a way its creators did not intend. a person who doesnt know about modding and all that good stuff would be rightfully pissed with the way psp came out of the box.those ridiculous "umd's" its enormous battery consumption.having to update the firmware every time the wind blows.and how about all those people who got suckered in to buying the psp go.the only portable system ever that wasnt compatible with its own games!my friend just got the new evo and while its cool i dont travel enough to need to play games on my phone.calls,texts and emails is more then enough for me in a phone.now a laptop would be a different story....mesk<-----------------not a $ony fan apologies cervante for hijacking your thread Quote

I can still see the beauty in this phone. The idea is a long time coming, and if Sony gets it right maybe I'll finally get the Motorola DS Phone my heart longs for. It's a market that makes sense to me (unlike me most people can't take their mobile gaming device to work).I really do see the beauty in all gaming platforms, even if the gap keeps getting smaller as first party titles start to dwindle down to none.If it can play games, well, I want it! Never bit on the PSP Go though, and not sorry I didn't. We can agree that was a horrid device, further victimized by shitty marketing and poor design. Quote

On the downside of that, I can't give up MY android phone, my 5.50 GEN-D3 (Prome-4) Psp, my DSi (R4i Gold with 1.4.2 patch, WoodR4 1.30) or my Nintendo GameBoy (Old school grey and green) for another handheld device that I can do the exact same with any of my other, handheld devices. Plus the screen looks small. And it does have a PSPGo! kind of vibe with the slide out. My opinions. Quote

I have encountered a few girl gamers that are alright. Some are real mouthy and annoying (like 90% of the males that feel that they have to prove something to the rest). While the GameEx forums tend to keep the testosterone in check, others are not so well maintained. Long story short I had a sega genesis for far too long playing krusty's fun house and ms.pac-man when sailor moon was over. I begged my parents for a nintendo64 because of the mario game I saw on display but instead opted out for a playstation bundle that came with soul calibur since it was cheaper. I had no choice but to play that game since I played the same demo disc over and over till the disc became unplayable . I hated soul calibur since I never understood well the whole button combination just to do one thing, eventually I managed to reach the last boss " cervante " & never got around to killing that menace. So his name forever stuck in my head whenver I think about videogames. Quote
