I have clones turned off and I was playing around and noticed some games that I don't consider clones to be missing. For example, NBA Jam shows up on my list but not NBA Jam Tournement Edition...Double Dragan (Playchoice-10) but not the original arcade Double Dragon. Is this something I have set up wrong or does it just recognize them as being clones? Is there a way to "uncheck" individual games from the clone list so that they show up? Also, is there a way to filter clones from other Emu's such as ZSNES?

Thanks

It could be that the Filter is removing games, I am not really sure. Mame Parent ROMS are not always what you think for example the parrent of Pac-Man is PuckMan I think. If your sure there deffinitly not clones and you have the roms let me know and I'll look into it.

There is no way to select individual games not to show up other than use the filter. There is no way to filter from other Emu's. You could just move the ones you dont want to another directory though. A script could be used to move files based on names.

Double Dragon didn't show for me either - it's because the Japanese one is the original - the US and World versions are the clones, so if you had the japanese filter on (like I did) it wont show.

NBA Jam TE is also a clone of NBA Jam, so that wont show up. Some of the many Street Fighters are like this where the game is different, but still a clone. Trog also - the prototype (clone) is pretty much a different game but using the same graphics.

One thing I did (as I didn't want clones showing like yourself, but wanted some games where the clones were needed), was have the Mame Games completely unfiltered and showing text in brackets (to see what was what), and then add heaps games to my favorites and use that as the main Mame menu - I renamed the favourites as Mame Games, and the original Mame menu as a "-" (couldn't get a space to work for the name). Then later I will update the list with the bracketed text removed, and it will look better once again (haven't got to this stage yet though).

Also if you don't use it already, I'd recommend using MAME32 if even just for the games list for seeing what are the clones/not working games if it can't be worked out just from the bracketed text.

I don't know of a way to filter zsnes, but I think there's a dat file around called - the best of GoodSnes or something - that might help. Sorry can't remember where to find it.

If your roms are named with Good dat filenames, you could try searching the roms folder for something like this for example...

[b;[a;[o;[h;(pd;(j;

and then move them to another folder - I definitely recommend moving the files as they don't work anyway.

I still have to go through and manually move roms after doing this, but searching them is a good start.

Tom,

I was just thinking about this and don't think there's a good way around the filters to show certain games. However, I did think of something that might help. How about a new addition to the filter? Something called "Do Not Filter" which would just be either the rom name on the line, semi-colon seperated (just like the filter list) or the path to a text file which contains the rom names, 1 per line, to not filter? That way you could process those roms in the list after the filtering to add them back in. I would think that most people don't have a huge number of exceptions but by allowing either a list of roms on the line or the path to a text file it would accomodate both large and small lists. Personally, I want Pac Man back as both Pac Man and Puck Man get filtered when using no clones unless better and Japan. Removing either gives me way more roms than I want :-) A short exceptions list would allow me to add in the 3 or 4 clones, etc that I would want.

Thanks!

Hi, yes I like this idea, have thought about it before. Look out for it soon.

Thanks,

Tom
