Yay I'm back! ha.

I'm sure this has been covered and I've been searching for it, though I'm sure I'm just not using the right terminology yet. I loaded up a few emulators, say zsnes, and set the rom paths to my snes rom folder, loaded up game ex and there are no roms listed. When I set mame up it did this and I just hit the update list button and it listed everything and all the roms works good, but I don't see the create list button in the emulator section. From what I can tell I either need to create/update a list or map file, I'm just not sure how to go about it. The FAQ says it creates the map file automatically, and I've found the zsnes map file but the games are listed wrong (wrong title format). How do I go about updating that?

Posted

Also on the 3rd page of advanced config, you need to turn off 'zip/7z roms' unless the rom sets are goodmerged.

Ok, so I got my snes stuff to show up, but when i try to launch it goes blank like it's launching and then goes back to the game list. I'm using zsnes, which works fine. So I imagine i need to start looking at how zsnes is configured inside of game ex, right?

You are correct, Sir! You have to configure each emulator you use through GameEx to point to the same paths that the emulator is using for ROMs, Snaps, etc. You'll get the hang of it and we are here to help if you get stuck along the way. I prefer using the Advanced Configuration app to fine-tune the paths, etc.

So, just to update I've gotten all of my rom based emulators working wonderfully and I'm really feeling like this is coming together. However, for epxse and ssf (so any sort of image based file), I've got everything set the same as my other emulators but I still can't seem to get the files to list in game ex? Is there anything special I should be doing for these?

Posted

Well, I know SSF anyways needs an ISO loader. I don't use ePSXe so I can't really say there.

Posted

so I need to set up the iso loader just to have the files show up in the saturn list under sff?

No. Games should list based on your path, rom/disc images, and filters. Please give more details. Post your config so we can see what's going on. Instructions on how to do so can be found in the How to ask for Help thread by Tempest, step 1.

you mean your games are not showing? if so,you need to specify the extension in the rom filter.my saturn games are in .bin\.cue.so in the rom filter for sega saturn I have *.bin so only those show.if you dont specify with cd based games, and say you have a game that has seperate audio tracks they will all show unless you filter them

here is my settings for both sff and epxse. sorry about that.

Your filters are invalid. They need to be separated with a semi-colon.

Taken from the help context of this setting:

Only list files that match the filter. Use this to select only valid ROMS. Seperate multiple

filters with a semi colon. e.g RomFilter = *.bin;*.atr;*.2600. If your ROMS dont show up, make sure

this setting is correct, or leave it empty. If Zip/7-Zip is enabled use the extension of the

correct files within the archive.

Let's fix that issue and then go from there.

ok, so I've got epxse loading up great with bin files using the -loadbin command. But about half of my games are in .img format. Is there any way to get epxse to load multiple formats? If not, does anybody know a good converter for changing them to .bin but that can do multiple files at once? I have like 60 some odd img files, doing those individually in magic iso would suuuuuuuck.

I don't use this emulator so bare with me. Does it not work for the img files? If not then the easiest solution would be just to mount the image via external tools in the Start before setting of emulator configuration and then run the emulator. Then it can deal with multiple disc image formats. Otherwise work will have to be put in like creating a wrapper to launch different command-line settings based on file extension or to convert all your images to a standard format recognized by the emulator itself which seems to be bin, iso, img, cue, ccd, and mds.

Why not just use DamonsTools to mount your images instead?

I suggest that with every new problem, start a new topic. That way it can benefit other users as well when searching for an issue. Will also help us to know if we've resolved the problem or not.

As far as your issue, it's a good thing to test by mounting an image and then running the emulator outside of GameEx. Always test outside of GameEx first!

Well, now Daemon Tools will work once. The first time I start up the computer it loads the game, though it still hangs (I can tell from the windows box that pops up when you mount an image). Then I exit out and try again and it wont load the image file. ??
