Draco1962 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Looking for suggestions on my latest logo pack - examples can be found here .
mesk Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 logos with system images for me please.TBH,ive been wanting to update my system logos with system images for awhile now.I have been using logos that just have the name of the system, but that mostly because I cant find REALLY good system images.Hopefully Draco can rectify this for us!
celly Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I say both, with and without. That's just me. They look really good too, can't wait to see the complete set.
simbamame Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Just knowing that they are being done by draco means we are going to get superb quality no mater which way he desides to go look forward to seeing and using them.Personally I prefer with system images.Ian
Draco1962 Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 So far it is 2-1 in favor of system images. Since creating the files without is just a matter of a quick save of the file before inserting the system image, I will continue working on both since the only thing really eating up time is finding the system images themselves. Have found some good resources from Retro-Roms (thanks for the share on that, Starbuck!), Tom's Games Database, and quite a few other sites across the web dedicated to preserving computer and console history, enthusiasts, etc.
Krakerman Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Let me know if you need an image of a system Draco I've got a quite a few images myself.
Draco1962 Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Thanks, Krakerman! I think I may have provided some of those to you so may need them back at some point! What I am finding is that the system images are more plentiful than the actual company or system logos themselves, such as the original Tandy logos circa TRS-80 or CoCo (and even the logos for those specific systems are very difficult to find). Sometimes I can lift images from a box or flyer image, but those are far and few between and the image quality for logos obtained that way is really hit-or-miss and requires a lot of clean-up. Any contributions for images and company/system logos you would like to see of the more obscure systems, please feel free to upload them to the"More tinkering with the GIMP" thread if you would like to see them as part of this logo pack! Thanks to all!Mike

Draco1962 Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Definitely larger. Whenever possible would like the original logos. There are a lot of faux logos about usually the result of an enthusiast for their own website. So, in some cases, having to do a little research to determine the authenticity of the logo. I know it may sound a bit anal retentive but going for as close as I can to an original to go with the system image it's associated with.
Adultery Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Ahh I think I still have my TRS-80 in a box in my mom's attic, but it's not in the box unfortunately.I wonder if it still works?
Draco1962 Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 Well, just days away from new logo pack(s) time. For size consideration, I will likely split the pack into two - the first will be the core pack with just the system logos and other logo files, and the second will be system logos with consoles only.
Krakerman Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Sweet! Looking forward to seeing and using them Draco. Thanks for all your hard work and contribution
