Draco1962 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Ian - Please go to the gameex\data folder and delete all files with cache in the file name then try to start GameEx again. Then repost your complete log file. Draco1962 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Going to need some Ultra GEX Guru assistance here. Interesting that in the second log file it did not even get to "Validating: Emulator" steps in the log file. Doesn't seem to me that it should even have come up. Were you able to see any menus or games? Can you try loading the Default-Default theme and providing the log file after that?

Adultery Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Are you able to run any games? In my case if its on standby for 5 mins it should launch the screensaver (attract mode) and I don't see that happening here (or any game running for that matter).
Tom Speirs Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Sorry for the delay at looking into this. I have been travelling. If its a hard crash not shown in the log it would probably indicate an external component crashing. What video codecs do you have installed?
Draco1962 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 From previous posts in another thread I believe he has Shark 7 codecs pack installed.
Adultery Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I wonder if he has more than one codec pack installed? That can cause some serious issues if you have Shark007's pack, and say CCCP installed on the same machine. This might also explain the crash unless he removes video snaps too.
Draco1962 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Could he disable display background video to test this or would there still be conflict?
Adultery Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Awesome suggestion! Didn't even think of that! Can you try that and let us know what happens?I think we're getting somewhere.
simbamame Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Sorry for the deley , busy day with working nights and the royal wedding, ive read threw the post will try and answer all that is mentioned.Tom: Yes i have only shark win7 codec pack installed along with direct x 11.Adultery : yes games can run but the crash happens at different times. Hasnt happened during a game ( yet ) only when scrolling threw menus, select emulator go back etc.. I only have one codec pack installed shark win7 which apparently removes other codecs on instalation.Draco1962 : will disable back ground video and see what happens. ( where is this option i see display background mode, mine is set to black? )EDIT : Fired up machine crashed after 5 mins, rebooted ran for 30 mins no problems still going now...some its got me!!
simbamame Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Different error but log supplied for your info. Was running with default theme.and another
Tom Speirs Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Do you have any music playing? Could it be a corrupt audio track?
simbamame Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Do you have any music playing? Could it be a corrupt audio track?Tom, Im using the arcade.mp3 track for the start menu when i select an emulator it plays music from the games on exiting back to the start menu GameEx continues to play the arcade.mp3 track so i dont think thats the problem. Is it possible that maybe i have some kinda bug with in windows 7 that is causing an issue / confict with GameEX although ive not had any other problems with any other applications or games im using. It only seemed to happen after i installed Play station emulators but that may just be a coinsidential, as i did try turning them off and still got a crash when selecting the spectrum emulator page.I hope this can be resolved as i love GameEx and have been recommending it to people but with it keep on crashing there kinda put off which is a real shame, i just say its my windows is not set right ( a lie i know, but thats how much i love GameEx ). fRequEnCy Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Report: User is using FLV video snaps. This is what's the causing the crash. User is also using latest Shark007 codec pack. Videos play fine within WMP but cause GameEx to crash. Anyone with FLV experience, any info is appreciated. Thank you!
mesk Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 ahhh..flv video.although I was using flv snaps for a short time, they didnt crash GameEX on me but they took a eternity to play which is why i converted them all to avi

simbamame Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 UPDATE: I have tried some snaps from other folder in the psx snap folder and they work fine and dont crash GameEx so its deffinatly an FLV problem, odd considering i got them from emumovies.Ian.
celly Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Thats pretty strange considering your on Shark007's codec for Win7. I don't use .flv's but its still odd that they cause it to crash for that specific emulator.
Adultery Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Ahh mesk should be poppin those onto the ftp at emumovies. I bet that's a way more full set than the AVIs that are there currently!@freq: nice work!

Draco1962 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 What is it in Ian's setup that is different from Mesk's? Is anyone else having problems with utilizing FLVs? Is there something that could be improved in GameEx that would make using FLVs more manageable and system friendly?
