Adding A Webcam To My Rig

Hey everyone. I added a webcam to my rig, and I have it set up to basically see whoever is standing in front of it (which will be useful for Skype and what not). What I'm after is possibly having the webcam snap a shot when an emulator launches, as well as setting up a hot key for it so I can take random shots of my friends when they're drunk. I'm looking at using this proggy for this purpose, but I was wondering how I would go about having the webcam snap a shot when someone loads an emulator. I was thinking I may need a bat file for this, but I'm admittedly inexperienced in this area. Maybe I can set up the emulator's sendkeys function to hit the hotkey? What does everyone think?

Would be cool if you could send it to another monitor by saving the snap to a specific folder for game extender with the specific file name. Not sure how you will set it for each time an emulator is open, but you could probably set it up to take pics at a specific interval (although it does say you can trigger it by a hotkey).

Just make sure the hotkey is not enabled should they find your digiporn collection..

Considering that this proggy can amend file names and launch external apps, it's not entirely out of the question... It's just a matter of figuring out how to actually get it to name the snap based on the ROM. I wonder if the GameEx plugin system would work for this purpose? Hmm... I can't be the only one with a webcam on my rig?

Depending how you go about it but yes, a batch file or script can be used.

Could you be more specific? Will there be a focus issue where GameEx loses focus when launching the bat file (which is easy enough to work around)? Never used this method for anything so pardon my newbiness.

A script would give you more control unless the app you use takes care of everything and then can be launched along side your emulator using the launch before or launch also. I'm not familiar with the app so hard to say about it's behavior. A script could easily take care of this and shouldn't steal focus or anything if done right.

Thanks Freq. So from what this reads, a script is likely the best solution as opposed to SendKeys. Looks like it's time for me to take a look at AutoIt.

SendKeys could work depending on how the app works. Testing will have to be done to see it's behavior. If it runs in the background and watches for a hotkey then that would work as well. It would be the easiest solution (again depending on it's behavior). If not then I would look to a script. I always say, "If it don't work then script it"!

Wouldn't be too hard to code something to do that, I'm just a bit busy lately unfortunately.

Did you ever get this up and running Adultery? Trying to set same up on mine - random videos and pics whilst playing games. Tried your plugin headcaze, but couldn't configure under external applications (not listed)

I started a plugin to do this but never finished it... I might revisit it after finals.

Would be cool - something with options like take snaps at random times, or videos at random times. Record audio too? And maybe mow yer lawn whilst at it!
