celly Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I've been tinking around with Dolphin and put a few Wii games and Wii Ware .wads on it they work great. Since all works well I decided to try and use the Wiimotes instead of my cab buttons, just for giggles. Using bluetooth, they connect fine and play great, just like my Wii. However, I can't see to figure out how to be able to use them while inside GameEx. When I play outside of GameEx, I have to turn on the Wiimote, then start the Dolphin.exe, then click the Wiimote icon, hit the refresh button and THEN Dolphin sees the remote. After that I can select a game and play. The only way all this works in GameEx is if I do the above steps prior to starting GameEx. Anybody have a solution or advise to this?
Adultery Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Unfortunately your computer won't recognize the wiimote as a controller without a driver (see GlovePie). I am also using Dolphin but haven't mastered the Wii end of it enough to add it in to GameEx, with the exception of GameCube games which use a mapped controller.Supposedly GlovePIE can make your WiiMote do just about anything from game controller to mouse pointer, and maybe light gun but that may be thinking too far outside the box. As far as wether or not GlovePIE and Dolphin can coexist, you're on your own but keep me posted. If you can make it seamless I have two extra WiiMotes that may just replace my PS2 controllers (man I love that Classic controller pro!).
celly Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Alright I'll give GlovePie a shot. They work with Dolphin I just can't get it the contollers to load with the emulator when I select a rom.
Adultery Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Like I was getting at, maybe it will work if your PC already knows it's there. A couple things to try:CommandLine=dolphin.exe -e "[ROMPath]/[ROMFile]"Also I think ALT+F5 syncs the WiiMote up as long as Windows sees it.

I've got the Wiimotes working just fine. I've figured out that if I connect them in Dolphin before opening GameEx, then they work without any issues. I'm just not able to do the following - open the Nintendo Wii emulator in GameEx (with the Wiimotes OFF), and try to turn them on after selecting a game. Not really a big deal, just a small extra step to take before starting GameEx.GlovePie works, I just haven't seemed to figure out how to set it up via the emulator. Probably have to have it launch before or something. Not sure. I'm still tackling this thing and once I figure out a good way to have this dialed in I'll share.
Kustom Kid Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I picked up a Bluetooth dongle last night to mess around with Dolphin and my Wiimotes. I'm wondering if there's a way to use the "Pair Up Real Wiimotes" function automatically once Dolphin fires up. I'm going to scour the Dolphin forums and see if I can find something.
Kustom Kid Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Ok, so I found a few threads where people were launching Dolphin from XBMC using the Wiimote as the remote from within XBMC or some other type of front end. So far they're in the same boat you are. Well me, too I guess, but my computer doesn't have enough go-go juice to run a lot of the games. I would post a thread on there, but a few posters are just down right jerks and I don't feel like being called a n00belsaurus-rex by some socially inept 15 year old. Tonight when I get home I'll see if the steps to connect can be done via keystrokes. If so couldn't a script or something be written to automatically do it? I'm not really sure what I'm taking about, either. Just throwing ideas out there.
Adultery Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Does the ALT-F5 trick work at all? We could set that up through the SendKeys function of GameEx and just iron out the wait time without need of a script.
jbsoum Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Hey all, I'm thinking of picking this up to see if I can't get it working properly. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Adultery Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I haven't attempted setting up Dolphin for Wii yet (although I do use it for the 'cube currently) so I'm interested in seeing what you come up with.
celly Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 In all honesty, I tossed out the whole Wiimote idea and GlovePie. I configured my cp as a Wiimote sideways through Dolphin. Since I really only play Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom it feels like it should, arcade style! Do let us know jbsoum if you ever figure it out though.
Kustom Kid Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Oh man, I forgot about this, too. I wasn't able to figure anything out. It's either super simple or super complicated. Good luck, jbsoum. And do let us know if you get it worked out please.
jbsoum Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Ok here's my progress:So far, I have been unable to figure out a set sequence for connecting the remotes without interacting with the emulator. Once I do that, I should be able to automate what happens with a string of commands or a script. When the emulator is open, before the game is loaded, I click on the Wiimote button, then click 'Pair Up' then click 'Refresh'. Before I hit this string of keys, I press the '1' and '2' buttons simultaneously so Dolphin knows which remotes to pick up. This works, and seems to be the only reliable route for connecting the Wiimotes. So, the question that I believe needs answering is how to send these entires to Dolphin without using the Dolphin GUI. Does anyone know if Dolphin accepts command line entires?I tried messing with the Alt+F5 command, but that seems to do nothing. Whether the Wiimote reads as being connected or not doesn't change when using these shortcuts, but you do get a message notifying you that a Wiimote has been connected or disconnected.
Draco1962 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I found some command line information here - not sure if it will be of help. Also, found via CMD using dolphin /? a list of command lines...

Also, found via CMD using dolphin /? a list of command lines...Ah yes, I've seen that. Nothing there about messing with the wiimote plugin. Well, I'm assuming the wiimote functionality is a plugin to the actual emulator, I can't say if that's actually the case...Edit: it is a plugin, but I still can't figure out a way to interface with it through the command line.
Draco1962 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Not sure if this will be of any help - Official Wiimote Plugin forum post. Doesn't seem to have anything about command line but still might get you in a direction.

Doesn't seem to have anything about command line but still might get you in a direction. It looked promising to begin with, but it seems that the thread has been long dead, and most of the talk regards recording wiimote movements and transcribing them to a gamepad. I'll keep looking into it, maybe I'll post a feature request regarding this to dolphin's google code site.

Adultery Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Yo Ian:You didn't make a NAND backup of your Wii? No Boot2 installed?
fRequEnCy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Yo Ian:You didn't make a NAND backup of your Wii? No Boot2 installed?Or can just re-softmod it.
Adultery Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I think you need Indiana Pwns or Twilight to do it though, as BB doesn't work on the latest firmware afaik.
fRequEnCy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I think you need Indiana Pwns or Twilight to do it though, as BB doesn't work on the latest firmware afaik. That is correct! Had to do it for my sister's wii. Luckily she has all the necessary games to do it. Good to have those anyways for just that reason.
simbamame Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Yo Ian:You didn't make a NAND backup of your Wii? No Boot2 installed?I dont know what a NAND is and no Boot2 installed, i was using the Zelda Hack originally but that doesnt work anymore. Using our friend google threw up some ideas to try but i havent been able to get them to work so Dolphin seemed an easy route to go down lol .Ian

Good to have those anyways for just that reason. The latest firmware E4.2 doesnt let u use Zelda or indiana you need Lego Original Adventure or Smash brawl Brothers, niether of which i or any of our friends have even the local blockbuster video / games store doesnt have them.Open to sujjestions I4N

Good to have those anyways for just that reason.Yup, I got the first press of Twilight Princess fortunately. To those who would like to use it though, be advised that Nintendo fixed this exploit in later pressings of this game.@Ian: It's always good to have a NAND backup my friend! You can revert your Wii to the exact position it was in when you made the backup. I do this every time I update my Wii. The boot2 is kinda like a service mode, so if you make a mistake you can always make changes. You would have needed to do this to make the NAND backup in the first place. I also use Priiloader to block prompts for system updates.I'd be bummin if I couldn't play Mario Golf on GC due to an update, not that I let my kids use the Wii anyways! .:EDIT:. 4.2 can use Bannerbomb! Link here. The latest System Menu is 4.3.
