Hi,

Today I was trying to download GameEx. And while I was downloading GameEx my speed

jump between 40 and 50 kb per sec. That means that a normal installation should take about 2-3 hours..

Is that acceptable?

Vermin,

I am sorry to hear about your network issues. I have checked and all appears fine (note the screenshot). Thanks for taking the time to report though.

Have you tried doing a tracert to Gameex and see how many hops there are? Perhaps there is a problem in one of the servers from your ISP to the destination.

Or maybe an ipconfig /flushdns may improve things.

Heck it may even resolve itself.

:)

Hi Brian,

Can I just say that your words of advise was brilliant.

Until now I'd downloaded, installed and tried to setup gameEx. I managed some

basic settings with your Wizard - installed MAME, installed two emulators, made selections for

audio/video and picture. However I've no idea how to proceed with this next steps. 'Cause you see,

I'm using Hyperspin. All my media (roms, cartridges, boxart, manuals) is located on my default Hyperspin

folder. And I got a few questions.

Can GameEx media files be located in another directory?

Is there a tutorial for setting up GameEx?

How much is customizable compared to other front-ends (maximus, hyperspin) in GameEx?

best Regards,

Torbjorn

Alright there.

I'll wait for somebody else to tell you about how customizable it is, as I'm not taking advantage of its features enough nor do I know about these features enough. I feel from what I do know however, it is VERY customizable, I do not know much about other front ends though. I have seen other people say it's the best for customizability BTW.

There are some basic tutorials on the link Dan provided along with FAQs (always a good place to start when looking at new software ;)).

As you tinker, there are some links you may wish to explore on my sig thanks to a few of our gurus that will get ya going in no time.

You can use the Advanced Configuration (part of your GameEx install) to point to your various folders for snaps, marquees, ROMs, etc.

Play around and get stuck, let us know what is going on and be prepared for one of the best supported front-ends and application forums you will ever encounter!
