Hi Tom,

Is there a possibility that I can add additional "Emulator Games", as I have reached the end of the available list, the reason for this is that for instance on each emulator, because there are so many games for each machine, I have split my lists, like USA,JP, Euro etc etc and consequently it just eats up the entries.

All the "More Games & Programs" as well, as I have added a lot of favourite single games, using dosbox and that list if full as well and I still have shed loads of games to add.

So really what IM asking, is it possible to add additional entries to the cfg files or would this need a front end change. If so, could these lists become endless, in that you can add as many entries as required?

Many thanks

?? This doesnt make sence are you classing each gamne as an emulator, because most emulators give you a list that you select the game from.

So you've used up all the 255 entries that Setup Wizard offers? This can be accomplished by adding more to the config but I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you really know what you're doing. And don't quote me on that cuz I'm not for sure certain. Also why setup each emulator for each region? As yes that would eat up your setups quite quickly.

Guys

Thanks for the responses, however I think I am not making myself clear.

Firstly I am talking about the emulators button as one topic and the More Games & Programs as a separate topic.

Firstly emulators, there are about 60 odd entries for emulators (Iâ??m not at home a the moment so I cant be sure of the exact number).

So for example, lets take the NES collection, either Tosec or Good, there are literally thousands of titles split between USA, Europe and Japan, I would make a entry for each country to keep them separate so that the list of games that are in each â??Emulator button are kept to a reasonable amount. To be truthful, yes I could lump them all together, but its what I wanted to do.

Then onto the next main heading button â??More Games & Programsâ?, where are you getting 255 from?, Iâ??ve put in about 27 standalone games in this section and thatâ??s all it allows me, so Id love to know where you are getting 255.

Having said that, your idea of modifying the config file is a good one, I was toying with the idea before writing this question, Iâ??ll give it a shot and see if it works.

Thanks for the feedback

I was talking about Emulator Setup. If you use Setup Wizard to setup your emulators, this gives you 255 entries to add that many emulators as opposed to 62 in GameEx Advanced Configuration. Splitting up your roms is fine. I just asked because there is a great feature that merges the roms together under one name and then displays a flag according the region of that game. So you get a nice clean list and then can still choose which region you want to choose from there. This setting is called Merge Sets found in Emulator Setup.

And the More Games & Programs section aka HTML Applications in setup only gives you 6 entries. So this would require manually editing the config file. So now I'm confused about your 27. LOL. ;)

Hi Ya,

Thanks for the response, I didnâ??t think about using the advanced setup for adding new emulators, Iâ??ve just been using the GameEx Advanced Configuration, but that is a solid gold answer to the emulator side of things, very much appreciated, Iâ??ve been using GameEx for ages and never knew that, I suppose youâ??re never too old to learn. :D

With Reference to â??More Games & Programsâ? and â??HTML Applicationsâ? they are two separate entries on the main menu, the HTML Applications, I have no real use for at the moment, but I wanted to use the More Games & Programs to put all my favourite one off games in and I checked last night and there are a maximum of 25 allowed.

So I might have a look a the setup wizard or failing that I may have to play around editing the config files, It would just be a nice feature in the advanced Config menu if you could just keep adding single programs infinitum and there was no set limit.

Many thanks for your feedback and chat, much appreciated

I think you may be getting the Emulator setup confuzzled with the External applications. There are 255 Emulator slots available when using the Setup Wizard - 62 available if you set them up via the Advanced Configuration app. There are 25 External Application slots available in both the Setup Wizard and Advanced Configuration app.

Keep in mind that 256 is a "golden" number for most programs as it is a refers to 2-bits to the 8th or you can just learn more about that here if you feel the need to geek out a little. ;) Anyways, 0 being a null value or no entries, you are then left with 255 slots to enter Emulators in the Setup Wizard to fill up to your hearts content!

Considering the number of countries for which there may be different versions, not to mention World versions, you will exhaust even these pretty quickly. I think that if you hack at the config to add more than the 255 you may end up jacking up your system.

To be honest, I am with the rest of those that have posted prior and wondering why the need? MAME alone supports over 10k ROMs and even if you pair it down to only working ROMs, eliminate hacks and bootlegs and those gawd-awful mahjong and porn games, and remove the brackets, etc. you can effectively merge most of those sets down to 1/3 or less.

You may find freeing up some slots for other emus for other systems that GameEx supports will widen the appeal and usefulness of your Cab/HTPC considerably and cut out a lot of duplication of effort giving you more time to enjoy them! :D

If you ever get past the tweaking part anyways! Some of us just never seem to finish our projects enough to just sit and enjoy it (like me!)

Lemme see, I am working on what, my 6th theme? Have recompiled MAME 3 times in the last 2 months and CLRMamepro'd the bunch as many times.I have yet to finish troubleshooting some of my missing .dll files issues wwith Future Pinball, then, to add insult to injury, just moved all of my assets and ROMs to another drive - meaning I have to re-path my emus to the new drive. Will I EVER get things finished to my liking and enjoy what I have? My wife says I better REAL soon or she is gonna trade me in on a REAL husband and not an emulated one!
