GameEx will not load, help please!

Hello all,

I have been running gameex for months without issue. I tried to start it today on version 11.51 and it crashed. I manually downloaded 11.52 and tried again without success.

I moved the configuration files and GameEx was able to load. However as you can imagine I have put a lot of time into getting GameEx as I want and do not want to start from scratch.

Attached is the log file that was generated after upgrading to 11.52.

Thanks for the help. My nephews friends are coming into town today and I hoped to play on the cab with them! Any advice appreciated!

It seems you have forgotten to attach the config file, or maybe you tried to attach it with its native extension (ini). The forum will not allow you to attach such kind of files. Zip it and re-upload.

I know GameEx crashes if there is something different with the current theme... maybe migrating from one version to the newer caused the theme files not to be found. Try to use the setup wizard and select the default theme.

You can also open the gameex.ini file in notepad and save as a txt file.

It was late and I had a few and apparently forgot to attach it.

I also tried changing the theme to default... same problem.

Brendan - I would like to start by having you go into the DATA directory and delete all files with the word cache in the filename. These files will rebuild themselves so you will not be losing anything. Let us know if that resolves the issue or if you are still having the problem. Also, if you would provide a copy of your gameex.ini provided you are still crashing. Thanks!

Thanks Draco! That solved my issue instantly.

One more quick question... I haven't seen anyone on the chat before. Is there an IRC channel or something similar where gameex users discuss issues/questions.

I ask because right when I think I am getting really knowledgeable about all of this, a thousand other questions come up; many of which would be easier articulated in a back and forth chat setting.

You can always PM one of us for a chat if we're around the forum. Most if not all of us probably wouldn't mind trying to answer your questions.

No IRC channel for GameEx that I'm aware of. Not sure anyone here has time to keep up with a chat server other than the java one integrated into the page.

No IRC channel unfortunately. It has been mentioned before. As far as the chat, not many users are ever there. I wish that would change. But good thing about the forums is that it's archived for others to see that may have the same problem. Wish the chat would be used more often but I mostly use it to do real time troubleshooting after a user posts an issue.
