Hi everyone, it's been awhile, hope all is well.

Mostly because I don't like dealing with all the little problems that usually come up, I only update my Cab once a year (GameEx, Emu's, Roms, etc). I am planning on changing the OS this time from Windows XP 32bit home to Windows 7 64bit home, and I have 2 questions.

1. Can I use the same GameEx ini file that I currently use with WinXP? I have a ton of emus, and it seems that whenever I used the auto update in the past, things usually got messed up. So what I usually do is just copy the old GameEx.ini into the new GameEx installation. I will be installing Windows 7 64bit home on a new harddrive. (I am using a GameEx version one year old and I am a registered user).

2. Are there any "tweeks" or known issues that anyone can share for Windows 7 64bit home for GameEx or any of the Emus that I should be aware of? I have never used Windows 7 before, and here are my cab's comp specs: Core2Duo 8400 overclocked to 4ghz, 4GB Ram, ArcadeVGA2, Betson Tri-sync monitor, 2TB disk space.

Thanks!

Welcome back! Everything can be transferred over just fine. Only issue you'll have is that you'll have to e-mail Tom for a new key as the old one won't work on a 64bit system. As far as emulation goes, everything has ran fine for me and haven't had any issues. Only a few older emulators will be affected but we're talking old dos ones. But can be ran from dosbox so not really an issue. Another thing that would require some tweaking is UAC. Other than that you should be fine to go unless I missed something. If you have further questions then let us know! Have a great day!

The new versions (less than a year) will install to c:\gameex instead of c:\program files\gameex to avoid most UAC issues and should require minimal tweaking of the gameex.ini file, if any.

Thanks for the info! I have never used either Vista or Win7, is there a way to disable UAC?

Very simple to do. Instead of posting steps, it's all over the net. Simply google "how to disable UAC" and you'll get lots of hits.

Although Win 7 is not as much of an issue as with Vista. You can often look at the properties of the program and select to allow for it to run as an administrator to bypass most of the UAC issues.
