filters do not work

It seems my filters are not working.it doesnt matter if they are on or off,i always get 9900 games,where there should be 10,207 as of the newest mame update being 141u1 with all filters off.Also no mahjong\no adult does not work either.anyone,any idea's?

nope i got rid of all custom lists

I even tried turning off all filters,and set all other options to allow for all games to show,there should be 10207 total games as of mame0141u1,i only get 9900

After you disable or reenable stuff and whatnot, you are updating your list right? Did you audit all your roms after updating mame using clrmamepro or something similar? You can also try removing your favorites.ini and update your list again to see if it works.

yup i always update the list after changing menu items.im going to try and delete my favorites.ini and see if that will work

Shouldn't need to delete it, just remove the reference to it in your GameEx config.

Yes, and see how many you are missing now as some parents get moved to clones and clones cannot run without parent rom sets.

I was just thinking something if I have the I want clones option turned on,would that override the filters list?arent clones just pretty much the same game just different version of it?like marvel vs capcom japan is just a clone of marvel vs capcom?

so even if I have filters on and have japan as one of the filters wouldnt it still show up if I want clones is on?

If you want to see all games, you need to disable all filters. If you have ANY filters turned on, you will filter some games.

I have done that.all my filters are off,yet i cant get any adult games or any zinc games to appear in their respective places.I have even tried a complete uninstall yet I get the same results.no adult or zinc games,it doesnt matter if filters are on or off I always get the same amount of games 9900

If I look on MAWS, it says that 0.141 has 9122 sets (which include bios and such) but only 4558+4511=9069 roms (parents + clones). I know some have been added in the u releases (which are not included in MAWS), but I certainly don't see 9900 let alone 10,207. MAWS is not the authority, but it's generally pretty accurate.

10,207 is correct according to the dat generated from the 0.141u1 source. A big jump in numbers but it seems it was do to this reason.

It looks like GameEx is limited to 9900 right now and the extra games could potentially cause some bugs. Ill get it fixed but it certainly won't be solved by rolling back to an older GameEx release as you suggested to me Mesk.

only reason I suggested that was because in 11.50 adult and zinc games were where they were supposed to be.right now I cant even get gameex to launch a zinc game even if i select it from the main list

plus even when I try to use filters I still get 9900 games,in 11.50 filters worked,adult and zinc games were where they are supposed to be

No worries. I think the overflow is probably causing a few issues in addition to just maxing out.

Tom - Another issue that I have noticed is within the Advanced Mame settings>Excluded ROMS. I went through my ROMS one by one and cleared out all the adult, almost all of casino games and almost all of the non-working ROMs, reducing my collection down from about 8700+ to 6652 ROMs.

When I checked the Excluded ROMs section of Advanced Mame Settings in the Advanced Configuration, the field appears empty. I checked my Gameex.ini file and all that I "deleted" through GameEx are there. I believe there is a cap to the max number of excluded ROMs that will appear in the Advanced Config and was able to confirm this by deleting about 4/5ths of them from the .ini file, saving it and looking in the settings and they appeared. The good news is that they are preserved in the gameex.ini file. Is there a limit, however, as to how many the .ini file can support without causing some adverse effects?

I've been trying to filter the casino games from MAME.

If I choose a game, then from the menu choose "More : Casino" I get 209 games. Great - but I cannot remove them from this list. It says "Removed" but it is not. If I remove them from the "All Games" list it works fine. Is there a quick way to remove them without having to seek them out of 9000+ MAME games?

Nope, all official DATs and whatnot, with the Adult and Mahjong games filtered out in GameEx options.

Have you tried deleting the cached dbs and letting GameEx rebuild?

It's a recent clean install, I'm not sure about deleting cache files and looking in ini files, I don't know what to expect. I think I'll just set aside an hour sometime to find and remove those annoying casino non-games from the All MAME Games list. I hate it when they come up in screensaver. Thanks fellas.

Hate to break it to ya, but I don't think the screensaver uses the filter settings anyways... Can someone confirm?
