Hello,

So I've recently purchased Game Ex and am having some issues with the Movie Database program. It seems to have an issue or so I've found with a specific directory of movies. I was wondering if there was any character limitations for filenames, length of filenames or even number of sub directory limitations ( like do all of the movies have to be in one directory and not seperated ). Everytime I use a fresh db and load other directories of movies it works fine but once i get to this specific one it crashes. Help anyone? Thanks

Can you provide a copy of your log file, please? Preferably right afer the crash.

Thanks!

Ok, so there is no log.txt file in the DATA directory. There is one in the main dir of game ex but it looks like it only has the logging for when you run game ex itself. The exe for the moviedatabase is in the main directory called moviedatabase.exe

Here is the log file anyway:

Ok, so i've tested with the movie dir that I thought was causing the problem and I systematically went through each folder for each movie and tested the movie database app and it did not seem to crash until i got to 3 last folders. So I took a clean version of the database and removed the last 3 that seemed to make it crash, rescanned for movies and tested and it crashed.....

So now I have no idea what the issue is....

I'm thinking about just moving all of the files out of the directory tree and putting them all in one directory but I don't know if that will even make a difference.

any1 have any ideas?

I've had the movie database crash since the 10xx versions. One time I had set it to download descriptions, and when I tried to open the file it had crashed maybe because it was too big, it was around 60mb. I saw it crash out of task manager and I could never open it up again to edit, unless I deleted it and tried again one by one adding info.

great. so how am i supposed to add pictures to the movies manually then

I remember just dragging a picture onto the box and it worked. I had more problems narrowing down which release was used when it got to specific dvd/blu ray releases.

oh k. but the only way to do that is through the move database.exe program right? you can't do it directly in game ex? i do seem to recall that the images stayed with the movies regardless of overwriting the database when it crashed.
