I thought about this the other day, since there is no way in hell I'll ever go through every single game in my cabinet to check for porn, does the screen-saver filter the games and limit the ones it uses based on your active game list? Or does it just randomly select games from your ROM folders?

Based on the fact I have not heard any screaming parents yet... or seen any drool puddles on the floor for that matter... I am assuming it does.

Thanks,

The screen saver uses your MAME list with whatever filters you have applied. You can tell it to only use favorites if you want which will limit the selection even further. If you have added a 'do not filter' game that's in the mature list, it may show up in the screen saver. If you do not have a current catver.ini, any new mature titles will not be filtered as GameEx doesn't know they are mature.

The screensaver in Attract mode accesses those items labled as Favorites. The stand-alone screensaver loads from EVERYTHING! There is a utility that will delete all ROMs from your filtered list - use with appropriate caution (back up as always).

Ahhh, correct. If you are referring to the external screen saver, I'm not sure what the filters are. The built in one has settings you can adjust.

And you, sir, are correct in that I am correct! :D

The only way I know is to delete the roms using the Delete Excluded Roms program as described by Tempest "This program will help you delete any/all roms from your emulators 'excluded roms' list. Run the program, and you will get a list of emulators that you have setup in GameEx, that are both enabled AND have romnames in the excluded roms list.

I think that once that is run and the excluded ROMS deleted, then there should be no surprises when the external MAME screensaver activates (had to explain that to my wife that I am not into Oriental Mahjong Porn - dadnabit Hanafuda!

Draco/Ben...

Thanks for these great tips. I didn't know we even had a program that deletes ROMs from the excluded list!!

As for the screensaver.... what is the difference between the internal and external. I have everything default for the screensaver. Does that mean it's internal? How would I know the difference.

Thanks again... lean something new everyday around here. :)

The internal screen saver is enabled under the advanced config. If GameEx is open, then it will default to that. If GameEx is not running, then whatever your WIndows screensaver will apply.

The external MAME Screensaver does have the means to filter by ROM name - just have to go into the screensaver options. I'd be curious to see if I can "port over" my list via copy&paste from my excluded ROMS within GameEx - will tell ya if that is possible.
