I was wondering, will the Wizard get updated at anytime with the new versions of the Emulators? I do like the ability to download it straight from the Setup screen without having to go and update it myself, but now some of the Emulator are out of date (MAME being the main one).

Also would it ever support new Emulators like the PS2 one and so on?

Shouldn't be a big deal really... Which emulators need updating? A list would be good. :)

One problem with throwing the latest mame build up there is people may not realize they need to update thier rom sets.

I can see all the threads now titled.. I just updated my mame and now XXXXX game isnt working.

Then they may not be aware of the build of mame they were using prior.

Other emulators should be ok though, for the most part.

Since we have a seemingly renewed interest in compiling MAME builds I only see these types of queries increasing as others discover the benefits of compiling their own builds and updating via clrmame pro. <raising hand with my first successful .140u1 mame compile and clrmame pro update>

Most people here are probably members of a certain group where they just update that one file which updates their sets anyways so it shouldn't be a huge issue... Back in the old days clrmamepro was way more prevelent than it is now. However I agree with this and we should just point people to the mame executable as opposed to providing it in the setup wizard in the first place.

Well, don't get me wrong. I think the setup wizard and down loader was a great idea. Matt, Me, Ben and Tom all worked on it. It really is useful and serves a purpose. It's to get newcomers to the emulation scene and some more advanced users some ease when first setting up a system.

I do agree that some of the emulators need to be updated.. Others like snes9x, zsnes, nestopia and fusion do not see the regular updates like NullDC for example or PCSX2.

I think its a great idea, personally I don't have the time atm but I will defiantly try and update it soon.

So... Are there any requests for any specific systems or emulators?

One thing to consdered would be to verify what emus in the list still retain active links and to see what, if any, support they have received in the last 5 years if still active. Some may have moved to new servers and URLs while others may be orphaned or no longer exist.

When I have some time to poke about I wouldn't mind checking through some to compile a list of emulators, URLs (website and download shortcut), and note last update and version. If we did a little divide & conquer it will move much quicker

Is there an .mdb that was created for the purpose of tracking the download links, etc?

Thanks - Mike

If anyone would like to update any emulators you need to update the profile in GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS\IMPORT-EXPORT and then 7zip up the contents of the emulator's folder at its root (ie. It should not be in a subfolder in the .7z file). Just keep the .7z filename the same and update the "Version" value in the profile. To locate the latest version of an emulator paste the "WebsiteUrl" into your browser.

Let me know if you're interested and I can organize to get them onto the servers.

I'll update the listings and post them here for you.

EDIT: This should be all the updated Emulators and files, I've also added a few of my own for you to take a look at but are placed in a separate folder so you don't get confused.

OK, got a small update for these I will post up here shortly Tom, seems that I forgot to actually add a command line for the Xbox Emulator so it won't work at all. I also update the files to correctly link to their Game pictures.

(Uploading Shortly)

On a side note, it also seems that the JPCSP does not want to link at all, could it be due to not having a .exe but a .bat file? Every time I download it, it does not get added to my Emulator list.

* Fixed Xbox command line being left blank and not being linked to cxbx.exe (fail)

* Fixed the Atari Logo for some Themes

* Fixed the Xbox's Logo to be set right

* Fixed the Nintendo's Wii's Logo (forgot to change it and was set as Gamecube)

(Still making some changes but this is what's being done right now.)

I didn't realize there were any xbox games that were playable. I guess that means in the last 2-3 years of development on the emulator, 4 games have become usable.

Not to sound negative, but it took less time to make the games in the first place. :P

He or She? is back working on it, He/She took sometime off from it and now has a dev build out witch does work with a lot more games, but is still very buggy. Hopefully he/she get's it updated soon with more support.

This is just a very small update but it's for fixes and if you want to use the updated logo of Atari or not.
