[RESOLVED] Exit Screensaver (Or Anything Else) Using Game Pad

Probably a stupid question, but can I exit attract mode using the controller, or is there some way within GameEx to bind the ESC key to a button combo on the controller to exit it? I would also like to map a combo to exit my emulators, and eliminate the keyboard entirely (I'll use GameEx configs for this) but I don't think I can do that for the MAME attract mode unless I missed a setting somewhere. Is this doable?

.:EDIT:. Hell... I can't get any of the Advanced Config commands to send ESC via the gamepad. I tried joy mapping and exit process, and I just can't get it to work. I guess I'll just live with a keyboard until I get my new iPAC. :(

It's an issue with the gamepads I'm using I'm fairly certain. The wife is getting me an iPAC and some buttons/joysticks for xmas, so I'll keep the keyboard until then.

In custominput.ini, there doesn't seem to me to be an ESC mapper for the joypad, unless I need to edit it in notepad or something. Just back, forward, next track, play/pause, select, etc.

[JOYSTICKEXIT]

# Global game pad exit combination

# Specify button numbers seperated by |

# Button Numbers start at 0

#

# For directions use:

# Left 200

# Right 201

# Up 202

# Down 203

# POV Left 300

# POV Right 301

# POV Up 302

# POV Down 303

JoystickExit=200|202|3|4|5

You also need to ensure gamepad/joystick support is enabled in GameEx.

It is. :)

Thanks for this Tom! :)

Another quick question: is it trial and error to find the button number assignments? The app that you press the button for (using the edit feature of advanced config) detects my buttons starting with 0, but the advanced config app Ben coded to use button combos to exit emulators starts with 1.

It's not a big deal if it is trial and error mind you, was just hoping there was an easier way, or wondering if it matches what the gamepad options in the control panel of Windows tells me.

Great, thanks. :)
