is it possible to set a warning message before exiting to windows?

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if there is a function in game-ex whereby you can add dialogue boxes after a specific action like exiting to windows?

How hard would it be to implement?

Just a small warning message dialogue box like: "you are about to exit to windows, please be careful and do not modify any of the back-end settings"

or something along the lines of this.

Thanks guys in advanced,

Merc

No, but you can have dialog boxes displayed using VBScript or another language if you like. If it were me, I would not allow the user to drop to Windows easily if you are concerned about damage to the system.

On my cab, I do not give any way to go to Windows. If I need to do something outside GameEx for whatever reason (something that can't be done remotely), I kill GameEx and then start Explorer via Task Manager. If a guest finds my wireless keyboard and knows enough to do all that, then they probably won't "accidentally" break anything...it would be intentional!

For me I just disable exiting to Windows unless they use the shutdown menu. Most people don't know enough to do that accidentally anyways.

the only thing i enable is 'shutdown' and 'restart' this stops friends going to 'exit' by mistake and going in to windows :)

if i want to go in windows for maintenance i just kill game ex with - alt+ f4 - bit dirty but it works

Another feature that I will likely invoke if I have this moved from my current PC to an HTPC or cab is the Users feature Tom released some time ago. That way, when I have guests over, I can load my GameEx version that has the Exit to Windows, Logoff, and other features I do not wish to have available to them enabled. This also works well for kids as they can be setup with their own themes and emus and parents can have total control over what they get to play (and, more importantly, don't play, like Mahjong B) ).

is it possible to write a VBscript for specific actions in game-ex such as exiting windows? Where is it located in the menu? I have a friend who knows VB script. If this is possible i would like to setup some sort of dialogue warning message with an OK and CANCEL button.

thanks everyone for their suggestions!
