is there a way to make games like pacman and donkey kong run in full screen?

Hi Guys,

as you know in mame when playing cocktail style games like donkey kong and pacman it displays a mame logo/game-ex on the sides.

Why does it do this?

Why cannot it go into full screen?

Also is it possible to modify those logos and perhaps make it just black?

Thanks guys in advanced,

Merc

p.s i am running a 26 inch wide screen monitor. I know it probably wont utilize the entire screen but it also does it on my 15 inch monitor. So i guess size isnt the factor here...

Any ideas?

Untick the enforce aspect ratio in the mame settings (or whatever the command line equivilant is) mame will then stretch all games out to fill the entire screen. On vertical games that's a lot of horizontal stretching and it will change how it looks a lot.

I'm guessing there's an option in the gameex enable/disable settings to disable the bezels so that it defaults to whatever your mame would use. I like to have the bezel and artwork selected as well as cropped that way you still get the full screen game but also see some of the artwork (I've only got a 19" lcd so showing all the artwork isnt an option atm) but untick it all and it should be black.

You can disable the bezel or even change it to a different one (even customized). I believe the option is in the MAME options, but it's called something to the effect of "Enable bezel". As for screen resolution, that's based on how you tell MAME to display. By default, MAME will fill the screen as best it can without stretching, I believe. There are several modes that are available from no stretch, to fill the screen, to specific resolutions and refresh rates. You'll have to check the docks to see what command you need to specify to get things looking how you want.

Doesn't GameEx pass the bezel argument? I would disable the GameEx bezel in advanced config, and then pass the -noka perrimeter to MAME so it fits the whole screen. That's what I do with my 19" in my upright cabinet to make it fill the screen... of course I like the bezel becausee it doesn't mutilate the game too much.

You can also make your own black bezel if it suits you, or use the widthXheight@refreshrate command line like was mentioned earlier in the Advanced MAME Options with -noka to stretch it all the way out.

Hope that helps out!
