Setting up your games list to appear the way you want it in game-ex

Hi Guys,

i seem to be having issues settings up the way i want the games list to look in game-ex.

a few questions:

1. Do i need different emulators for each rom set? e.g if i want to play snes roms i will need a compatible snes emulator?

2. when doing an update list (a feature in game-ex) does it scan the entire harddrive for games or only the specified roms path you selected in advanced configuration?

3. how do i set it up so in the main menu it will show each emulator set like SNES, MAME, NES etc and when you select them it shows the games with their corresponding sample video on the side.

4. i seem to cant play games in the mame micro that game-ex comes with - is there a known issue? I have put the bios files in the default roms folder and it still doesnt work. Games dont play at all.

5. also the demo and samples that game-ex comes with - the ones with the videos on the side - do they actually play? Or are they just for show?

Thanks guy in advanced,

Merc.

1) Roms are only usable with an emulator that can read them. So, yes, you need one emulator per rom set. Some emulators can run multiple system roms (e.g., Fusion can play Genesis, SMS, Game Gear, etc), so you can shorten the list of emus that way.

2) The update will only update your MAME list. All other lists are generated on the fly using the files that are present and a database (if you select one).

3) Flat menus or build a custom menu.

4) MAME micro? If you can't set up MAME, then you need to do a little reading. I can't find a link to a guide here, but there are plenty out there, so if someone else doesn't post one...google it!

5) I'm not sure what demos/samples you are referring to. Each theme has certain media that is included with it. Some themes have a lot of audio/video content that the author included. If you are asking about the sample videos that show a game being played when it is highlighted in the list, you need to look into EmuMovies. If you register for GameEx there will be a discount for the subscription cost over there. Either way, there is a lot of content that they offer for free.

Hope that helps!

I checked the stickies, but didn't see it. Hopefully Mercury will find it of use, though!

It's the guide by Ranzo that Draco provided the link for. It's in the stickied section, I swear!
