Last weekend I took my 11 year old son to the Houston Arcade Expo. Up this this pouint he was all about the xbox, playstation etc. After playing all day with the various arcade machine and consoles, he fell in love with many of the old consoles. Long ago I removed the old consoles from my Gameex console to make room for the newer systems. He now wants to experience the old school games. I have tried to put back the Atari 2600 on GameEx and for the life of me cannot get it to display using the Z26 emulator. It plays fine outside of GameEx but won't work with in. Below is my Ini file

It looks ok to me assuming your paths are correct but I am not sure about the command line as I have not used this emu for a while. Id try removing the additional command line options. ie the -r and -v6

Hi Tom,

Roms, snaps etc show up fine. Tried dropping the options already but didn't work. I'm running a wide screen monitor but works fine outside GameEx

The command-line switches are ok. So that is not the problem. Other than that, I can't see anything wrong with it. I just tested this emulator myself with that command-line and it worked fine. Please troubleshoot in debug mode or by using the runitgame.bat file. Please give more detail of what you mean you can not get it to display. Can you hear anything in the background? Does it try to load and then just exit back to GameEx? What is the extension of your roms? Things of that nature.

My guess would be that your roms are either zipped or goodmerged which in either case the setting Zip/7-Zip/GoodMerge would need to be set to Yes in Emulator Setup since I don't believe this emulator supports compressed roms. That's just a shot in the dark. If not then please do the previous mentioned.

Hi fRequEnC

Have tried it with zip files, tried unzipped(bin or a26) Hear nothing in background. Trys to load and then just exit back to GameEx. Have changed the v setting ( have removed v setting.

How and where do I run debug mode

In Emulator Setup there is a setting Debug Mode which if you set to Yes will show the command-line window and may show some useful information pertaining to this issue.

Ran the emulator several times in debug mode. Norhing unusual. Tried running in another frontend and worked fine. Has to be a setting in GameEx. Having the same problem with Vectrex. Game goes back to Gameex. When I shut down GameEx emulator starts running. Going to check setting in GameEx next.

if you are still having issues with z26,you should use stella, there is no better 2600 emulator then stella(IMO) get it HERE

hope this works for you.(no reason it shouldnt) ;)

Switched to Stella

Runs slower then Z26, but at lease it works.

Still going to keep playing with Z26. Hate giving up, since it worked before.

But now the kid can play the 2600.

Now on to a few of the other older system.

Thanks all.
