When I used Instant sheller, I had everything checked except for replace cursor. I pointed the program to C:\GameEx\GameEx.exe and it all went smoothly, but when I restarted my computer, GameEx did not load. Instead, when my PC restarted, it went to My Documents instead.

I thought I screwed up so I undid the changes and then pointed at Gameex.exe again, but the same thing happened! I'm not a fan of messing with the boot process manually, so I'm looking for a more automatic solution.

InstantSheller has worked flawlessly for me on both XP SP2 based cabs. You might want to make sure you don't have any problems with drivers or "load on startup" programs. I don't know why it would load that folder, but it's possible for some programs to steal focus from GameEx and keep it from being on top.

Well, some people use instant sheller, then have it run EXPLORER.exe on EXIT.

Some times, on some machines, running EXPLORER will NOT bring back the start menu, but rather MY Documents or explorer window.

It could be that you have a service that has not started yet cause Gameex to error out. Check the Gameex log.

Most commonly it is video driver type tray apps or sound apps that have not initialized fully.

Well, I kinda ditched using Instantsheller and opted for putting the shortcut in the startup folder, and that works just fine.

GameEx would not write anything to the log file if instantsheller was calling it since it never attempted to load, so I don't really have a log to post for that.

So with that out of the way, I just have one more question! I don't really want to make another topic about it :P

My custom keys are set so that my joystick controls the GameEx navigation, and the buttons function as other things like volume, next track, previous track. However, using these buttons when navigating my game menus jumps me to that letter of the game.

It doesn't do that for all keys, of course. Anything bound to UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, BACK, HOME, and ACCEPT aren't affected, but volume and track are. Any ideas? :)

Yea, there are ways to correct that I believe. I am at work now. Check inputsettings and alpha paging or something. If you cant find it I will check when I get home.

:)
