Tom Speirs Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 29th August, 2010 - GameEx 11.16 Additional system asset paths for game music and game tv commercials. You can get these files using the EmuMovies download service.Improved picture and slide show transitions.Jukebox Visualizations have also been improved.Next audio track is now displayed on the now playing scroller.Audio tag reading is improvedImproved memory management of audio files.Ambiance correctly stops playing when needed. Each list now independently retains its own view mode.Changing view is now quick.
T. Goodchild Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 The transitions are better but the views seem to be global. Is there a way to make them remember specific views to each emulator, jukebox or video page? I'm also getting jit errors when going from window to fullscreen mode and this update actually broke my visualizations in jukebox. Normally it takes two clicks to see it but now I see them faintly blink in the top left corner. Still gonna keep it though because of the speed increase in navigation.

Tom Speirs Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 Which version did you upgrade from? Sounds like you have gone from the Direct2D version to the Direct3D version?Anyone else have those issues? T. Can you post your log please.
Draco1962 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Not sure if it is an 11.16 issue or not, but my introsound, focus, select, and launch FX are no longer working. I have highlighted in blue the references to DirectSound and unable to load DirectSound device. GameEx was able to play those sound files without a problem prior to the upgrade today. I get sound playing Jukebox, game avi snaps and games. I also noticed something in the log file regarding version info. My theme is version 4 yet there are references to Version 3 animations and using Version 2 theme (in red). EDIT - The Volume Adjustment sound is also non-existant whewn adjusting for Jukebox and Internet Radio. I am running latest codecs and driver for onboard sound. Any help appreciated.20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: GameEx: Version 11.16: Starting Log20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Operating System Platform: Win32NT20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Operating System Name: Windows 720:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Operating System Version: 6.1.760020:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Aero running20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Initializing Vista/Windows 7 volume control20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: .net Framework 2.0 Installed20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: .net Framework 3.0 Installed20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: .net Framework 3.5 Installed20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 8126MB20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: 2.39Ghz - 4 Cores or CPU's20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Running Randomize()20:33:34.0 8/29/2010: Loading PlugIns20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Running Misc startup tasks20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Setting Menu types20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Opening Configuration File20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Getting Configuration Values20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Using Theme: Carbon & Steel20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Carbon & Steel20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: CPWizard enabled20:33:34.5 8/29/2010: CPWizard path invalid. Tom Speirs Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 Not really sure but I dont think its related to the latest version. Do you have ambiance setup by any chance? The v2/v3 theme thing is correct. v4 themes are a combination of the two.

T. Goodchild Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Anyone else have those issues? T. Can you post your log please.I updated from 11.14. I can try a clean install if it helps. The missing visualizations are the weird part. I've always however had to click on it twice for some reason. Another "bug" or feature that I find weird is on the start page when I mouse over all games, it only ever shows snaps for my mame games and not my other 10 emulators. I've also had problems with alpha paging on the video page, it works with games though. 18:34:41.8 8/30/2010: GameEx: Version 11.16: Starting Log18:34:41.8 8/30/2010: Operating System Platform: Win32NT18:34:41.8 8/30/2010: Operating System Name: Windows XP18:34:41.8 8/30/2010: Operating System Version: 5.1.260018:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: .net Framework 1.0 Installed18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: .net Framework 1.1 Installed18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: .net Framework 2.0 Installed18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: .net Framework 3.0 Installed18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: .net Framework 3.5 Installed18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor, 3327MB18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: 4Ghz - 4 Cores or CPU's18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Running Randomize()18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Loading PlugIns18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Running Misc startup tasks18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Setting Menu types18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Opening Configuration File18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Getting Configuration Values18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Using Theme: Newest136618:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Newest136618:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Launching HideOS.exe18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Hiding Taskbar18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Is Media Center running?18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Checking/Creating LCD Registry values18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode18:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Media Center Mode 018:34:41.9 8/30/2010: Video previews on. Tom Speirs Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 Thanks. In regard to the visualizations can you try the default - media center theme please. The rendering of the visualizations was significantly changed in this release, so its not really weird. Were you getting the JITs when resizing the window with 11.14?
Draco1962 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Not really sure but I dont think its related to the latest version. Do you have ambiance setup by any chance? The v2/v3 theme thing is correct. v4 themes are a combination of the two.Tom - I am attaching my DirectX Diagnostic log. I'm not sure if it will be of any use to you. From what I can see I am not having a problem with it anywhere else. I setup arcade ambience and it plays the mp3 without a problem...
Tom Speirs Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 I updated from 11.14. I can try a clean install if it helps. The missing visualizations are the weird part. I've always however had to click on it twice for some reason. Can you please try the visualizations in 11.17. If it still does not work post the log again.Thanks.Tom.
T. Goodchild Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Can you please try the visualizations in 11.17. If it still does not work post the log again.Thanks.Tom.Ok I tried a clean install of 11.17. I deleted the gameex folder and only copied over the config ini. I'm also using the default theme. The visualizations still need 2 clicks to start and then it appears for a second then just stays black. The views work perfectly and faster now and remember their respective settings. I still got another jit error when windowing and it may have been around 11.14, as I try to update it on every release. I've attached a screenshot and logs of gamex and the jit error if it helps.1117log.txtjitlog.txt

Draco1962 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Please try the attached.I had upgraded to 11.18 and still same results, also tried the gameex.exe you provided. No Debug log generated, but still no sound FX . I have attached a copy of my log - same error with loading directsound device.
Tom Speirs Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Its actually failing loading the sound files rather than creating the device. Id check your theme and for corrupt wav files.
Draco1962 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Its actually failing loading the sound files rather than creating the device. Id check your theme and for corrupt wav files. They were playing fine in the theme a few days ago and are playable in winamp and WMP so not sure what changed. I replaced them with the ones from the default theme and they worked. I also replaced them from the zipped copy of the theme and they worked. So, unless there were any changes in the updates that affect format specifics for WAV or MP3 files, then there is something on my end that has changed. .:.EDIT: I finally isolated the sound effect file causing the issue, replaced it with a good copy and all is right with the world again.
Tom Speirs Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Please try the attached. Can you please try T. Goodchild. Many thanks.
T. Goodchild Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Can you please try T. Goodchild. Many thanks.Sorry got held up at work. Ive replaced the 11.16 exe with the attached zip and still had the jit and visualization problems. I then upgraded to 11.20 and it fixed the jit windowing but not the visualization. Will keep you posted on newer rev's.
Tom Speirs Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Thanks and no problem. Can you do me a favour and see if you get a JIT playing a video or DVD full screen? I added some logging to the visualizations so let me know if the log shows anything new too please.Cheers.Tom.
T. Goodchild Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Thanks and no problem. Can you do me a favour and see if you get a JIT playing a video or DVD full screen? I added some logging to the visualizations so let me know if the log shows anything new too please.Cheers.Tom.It only happens in the game ex interface. I use kmplayer for videos but I could try the default player if it helps. The visualization starts for a second showing the album art in the lower right corner and the viz in the top left corner for a split second then just a black screen. No big deal I'm sure it'll get resolved in future builds no rush.
