Problem With Video Snaps Downloaded With The New EmuMovie Utility

Recommended Posts

I used the new EmuMovie utility to download video snaps. I downloaded both the AVI and FLV type of files and had the same problem with both. When the videos are displayed in GameEx the only thing appearing is a black box with a colored border. The border color will change every few seconds but I never see any actual video. Could someone please advise me on what I may have done wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Are the needed codecs installed in your system as well? We recommend the Shark007 Codec Pack.

I have never used shark, thought Id give it a try. First he doesn't even host it on his site. Major geeks is a clunky pain in the arse, and poorly designed. The link to DL it brings up a blank page, and even searching doesnt work properly.

This looks far to fishy and hacked to try.

Being suggested by an Elite Member as well as by the Mods, I wouldn't worry about it at all. I've been running Shark007 codecs on 2 of my machines with no issues. Shark007 codecs are also highly recommended by the HTPC community.

Do you see content on the DL page? I checked from 2 of my PCs.

All I get is navigation bars and adds.

I am speaking of the vista pack link on Major Geeks.

And many people sill use XP for smaller HTPC boxes. I would feel more confident if the Vista pack was named the Vista-XP pack before loading it.

Content? What content are you referring to?

Navigation bars and adds? What is it that you wanna see?

Well the name may not be the best of names (speak to the developer about that), one of the first things stated is that it's XP compatible. Also requirements are started on the download as well.

LOL. I thought that's what you meant but didn't understand why you couldn't see the animated down arrow pointing to the downloads. So to answer your question, yes I do see. B);)

Per the site:The Windows Vista Codec Package is compatible with Windows XP.

I along with many others have used it with XP with no known issues. I wouldn't get hung-up on the name. Besides, if us Windows 7 x64 users didn't use something because it only said it was compatible with Vista, well, we'd be in bit of a fix, eh?

The Shark codecs have been proven to work with GameEx by many users while other codec packs have had problems. Personally I've experimented with many codec packs including CCCP and KLite. From my results with the Vista Codec Pack I started suggesting people try them and feedback has been positive.

One thing that I particularly like about the pack is the configuration utility that comes with it.
