Hi all,

I've just updated gameex and my romset. All seems to work fine, but I find that Gameex shows many games names repeated several times.

I've just configure Gameex to not show clones and "remove duplicated" is also set, and I've tried with merged and split options in clrmamepro, updating list in gameex after that, but I am still not able to see only one instance of each game, even if I go to "Mame Originals"

For example, I can see 6 "1942" games, with no that text, exactly "1942", without no different information (they appears with the same name, genre and year).

Also, checking "clones" or "no bracketed text" on or of seems not to do anything.

This is something that didn't happened to me before, and I have no idea of what else to do.

Could you please help me?

This sounds like you have clones turned on, but you have the bracketed text turned off. As a result, you will see the parent rom plus all of the clones. 1942 has 6 parent/clones, so your list makes sense to me.

Now, once you change the filters, make sure you are updating your list again or else changes won't take affect.

There is something strange in all this.

My configuration is:

  • Remove duplicated.
  • Don't show clones.
  • Show brackets.
  • Don't hide update list.

And I got the duplicated entries (I suppose are clones, as GameEx assign them different icons), without brackets.

Changing "show clones" or "bracketed text" don't do anything, and leads to the same: repeated games, no brackets.

I have only one option to try, swithching off the "Remove duplicated", as Tom says, as always have been turned on during the testing. I'll try it when at home.

Also, I can't see the "Update list" option anywhere. Strangely, when I use de Gamelauncher mode, the "update list" is back. When I try the normal mode, no matter the theme I'm using, the "Update list" option is gone. It's weird.

Thank you very much in advance, and sorry for my poor english.

You MUST update the list in order for any changes to take affect. If you can't see that option, then you obviously haven't run the update. None of the settings changes will matter if you don't rebuild the list after you have made those changes.

I know, i'm going to do some testing.

Anyway this is very weird, dit it happened to anybody?:

There was an issue a while back where someone couldn't find the update option either. I can't remember the resolution, but I think they might have reinstalled GameEx over their original install to fix any potential corrupted files.

Ok, I've fixed the repeated items issue by turning off "remove duplicate games" and updating again. Seems to work fine now.

I cant still see the update list option, but when in gamelauncher mode it appears, so it's no important right now.

Thanks all

No, the option "Show Update List" is turned on all the times. The weird thing is that it shows when in gamelauncher mode and it doesn't in normal mode, without any other change. It's not important, as I can switch to gamelauncher mode when I want to update.

It could potentially be a language file issue. ie the text description for Update List is blank.

Also the option should not be showing in GameLauncher mode as far as I know, it should only list games and the exit options.

Could it be a co-mingled (or co-mangled) ini file?
