I have the latest Gamex version and today i loaded the latest mame update and some new roms.

After I update the games in Gamex, my favorites are there but some are missing!

For example, Pac Man was in my favorites and after the update it was gone.

I would then have to find it in the mame list and add it to favorites.

This is very annoying? Any reason why? Any way to fix??

Thanks

Hi,

OK, I am still having a problem with this. Hope someone can help.

I just updated to latest Gamex version.

I had Robotron as a Favourite. Now its not there NOR is it in my master games list on MAME!! its now gone! i have lost star wars as well....

Any idea what happened?

Thanks

My only suggestion would be to run the game outside of GameEx to see if there are any warnings that pop up. Maybe in updating the version of MAME, you left the rom set alone? If so, sometimes a redump will cause an old rom to be marked as invalid. I think this is unlikely with Pacman or Robotron, but it's worth taking a look.

thanks bkenobi,

ok, i ran mame by itself and star wars and robotron work fine. but in gamex they are no longer in my folder or in my list of mame games.

could it be because i am not running the latest mame version? does gamex need the latest mame version all the time?

this is very confusing and i hope you can please assist me further

thanks

Ideally you should be running the same version of MAME and rom. The MAMEDevs change, update, redump, reformat, etc the roms from time to time. If the rom is of a different version than MAME, then it won't be able to read the rom even though it will work fine in it's matching version.

The best thing to do is to use ClrMamePro to rebuild your set to the version of MAME you want to use. If roms don't populate into that set, you will need to get updated versions. Or, if you can, just update your romset and MAME to the most current release and you should be fine.

i am a little confused. why would the game be visible and playable with my current version of mame but not playable or visible in gamex?

Mark - can you post for us your Advanced Mame Settings in GamEx? You may need to use the Advanced Configuration to do so.

Thanks,

Mike

I can't see the images due to my company's filtering. You can actually export a text file if you use the config tool (not the setup wizard).

Try turning off "Verify ROMs" and "Use Game Filter" list. Try changing the "Remove Duplicates" setting. Update your list afterward, obviously.

Well, I'm sure it worked, but you may have to tweak those settings so that you don't end up with 8000 roms listed. But, those are usually the ones that cause issues with newerish users.
