starbuck
Last week after an automatic update, I lost all sound in GamEx. I get sound when I play games but not movies or mp3. Nor do I get sound in the menus. If I go to config. I get sound there. I get sound with my movies etc. if I go thru media player or media center or another frontend. I have done all the updates and even did a manual install. I am at a loss as to what the problem could be. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I even updated my codecs. Tom Speirs
Hi Starbuck, sorry for the delay. Im really not sure on this one. Could you be specific about what sound is working and what isnt in GameEx (e.g system sounds, jukebox, video previews, dvds/videos).Thanks. starbuck
Hi Tom.Not a problem.Problem comes and goes. Can turn on today and no sound. Turn on later in day and sound is fine. When I don't have sound, there are no system sounds, jukebox, video previews, dvds/videos. If I go to config even when I'm in GameEx, I have system sounds. Thanks for looking at the problem.Dennis (Starbuck)

Most sound cards today are Realtek's so if update to the latest version if you have it, if not look for your sound card drivers.http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=falseNext if there is still no luck is try to update to the latest CodeC pack. One of the best packed ones is K-Lite Pack.http://www.codecguide.com/index.htmlMake sure if you are running a 64bit OS to get both 64 and the regular pack. Please report back if still no luck. Have updated my codeC and have verified I have the latest drivers for my sound card. I have verifed that its the newest update from Nvidia (Standard card on all new HP notebooks) that is the problem. If I roll back to the prevoius driver it works fine. Problem is that if I leave on automatic updates it updates the driver everytime I boot up and then I have to roll it back each time. Big pain. Thanks
