Config Questions

Hi All,

I have been a long time user of GameEx and have recently come back to the fold after being away from the Arcade scene for a while (Damn Gamerscore). I have a few questions about my current config. I probably should know the answers by now but I cant figure it out.

Firstly can you setup GameEx to automatically play MP3s at random from the time you start the program i.e. looking at the menus before choosing a game. my setup at the moment only starts playing music if I go into the Jukebox option. If random music playing is possible is it possible to hide the Jukebox option aswell.

Also is there any way of turning off the options at the top of the screen (change view, home, exit)

Lastly I am using Circo's videos for MAME and they dont seem to work properly with my setup. For example you highlight a game and the video starts to play but only for a second or two then it stops and then starts again a couple of seconds later. Also this can lead to scrolling through the options being a bit laggy. What I mean by this is if you try to select a different game with up or down when the video for the current game is paused the cursor wont move until it has unpaused. I have installed FFDSHOW and the .avi fix and neither of these seem to of helped.

For the first question. Yes, just simply disable the Jukebox in the config, and select the correct path for your audio files.

For the second. Sorry not currently possibly.

Not entirely about the third, but its most likely a codec issue of some sort.

Still not getting very far with this though.

Firstly, I have disabled Jukebox but I still dont get any music in GameEx. I have also made sure the songs are showing in the Media Player library outside of GameEx.

The pausing Video issue is still there too. I had an xvid codec and ffdshow codec pack installed. So I have unistalled them both. Then when I double click on a video Media player opens up and just plays the Audio. Which I guess is normal. So I then re-install FFDshow and dont change any default settings. I then play the video again. Everything works as normal, video and audio with no pauses. However when I try to look at any video files in GameEx I get the pausing happen.

This is a little more info about my system. I am running GamEx at 640x480 on a Tri-sync Monitor. I have a Video Mame intro setup and that plays normally (full screen) I also use the Commercials Pack as Part of the screensaver and they play normally. It seems the issue arises when trying to display a video at a smaller size (i.e. not full -screen stretch).

I have attached my Config. If anyone can see what I have done wrong I would be most grateful

Edit. I have just tried installing Vista Codec Pack (no luck) and also XP codec Pack and again nothing. Neither of these displayed anything in GameEx just a black screen during intro video and GameEx didnt regain focus. Had to switch the PC off both times as I couldn't get back to the desktop.

Sorted this now. Just did an upgrade. Now all is good.
