trying to get my copy of x-wing vs tie fighter integrated into gameex and i'm a bit confused

i suppose i need to forgo the 'emulator setup' section and go straight to external applications

the only problem is, there doesn't seem to be a 'launch before' option with external applications.

i need this to enable daemon tools to mount my iso image before running the actual .exe file for the game.

do i need to trick gameex into thinking that x-wing vs tie fighter is it's own emulator category? setting the 'rompath' and 'command' as well as the 'launch before' daemon tools instruction up just for one game to work?

also, once i eventually get a few pc games programmed into the setup section, is there a way to add a PC games category in the game list? or are they just going to show up individually.

thanx for the help.

I have Myst, Riven, and Exile setup as a Emulator #3 in my setup. It is named (Myst Series). I have Daemon Pro setup so I have over 8 virtual drives to put other PC games as well ( Madden '08, Spore, Call of Duty, etc). The .iso images are setup to be permanently mounted on specific virtual drives. This is a setting using Daemon Tools. This way i don't have to ever worry about launching the .exe.

Instead I setup the emulator to look for a <gamename>.lnk file.

Here is my config file:

I would think keeping a bunch of extra virtual drives loaded at all times would eat at your system resources. Have you noticed anything?

if that were u keep your pc games ink(c:\emu)then thats good but the cmd line should be "[RomPath]\[RomFile]"

do you keep all your ink in one folder?

is there a way to create a 'pc games' category as opposed to the 'emulated games' category?

i'm treating it as an 'emulated games' addition with the 'treat as 1 pc game' feature enabled, but i'd love it if i could create another place to put it on the main startup page. i think i've seen a demo video of someone's cabinet with a 'pc games' category, but i'm not sure where i saw it.

would this involve modifying some complex .ini or config files?

edit: figured it out. got the idea from another thread on this page. i'm just going to create a folder in my 'roms' directory with shortcuts or batch files to run each independent windows game, then let gameex scan this folder as if it were any other rom list. it'll work like a charm.

I have not noticed anything really. All my games run smoothly. I am running a Intel Core 2 duo 1.8 GHz 2MB ram

Yes I keep all my .lnk flies for my "Myst Series" emulator in one folder.

I do have a couple of PC games (Doom and Duke Nukem) as .bat files in the same folder and they work fine. They are set up as individual emulators, but the .bat files reside in the same folder with the emulator set up to locate the specific game name.bat (ie. doom.bat & duke3d.bat) as opposed to my Myst series games setup as *.lnk.
