I ran across this commandline addition about a week ago and emailed it to myself then forgot about it. Another post on the board about ROM loading speed jogged my memory so I tried it and can report it works great! When I hit play this game it loads up right away! WooHoo! I have verified this works with Commandline MAME and the p4 optimized build of Commandline MAME only. So how do you get your ROMs loading faster? Add the switch -skip_validitychecks to the MAME launch parameters. That's it. For the original thread that mentions this, see:

in the gameex.ini file (in config folder)

at the "MameOptions" line

for example:

MameOptions=-skip_disclaimer -skip_gameinfo -skip_validitychecks -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy
