Hello all :)

My first post here so be gentle.

Recently installed mame 0.133 on my pc. Most games (even later titles like Alpha 3, MetalSlug) run perfectly without tearing. But I prefer the front-end of GameEx, so I installed that, set it up to run games using my previously installed Mame0.133. But I get tearing now.

I've tweaked the 'tweaks/advanced settings' in GameEx config a number of times but it dosen't seem to improve. Is my pc spec simply not up to it? I'd be sad if this is the case because mame was one of the reasons I bought this PC.

Spec:

ASRock 330, Intel Atom 1.6GHz dual-core, GeeForce 9400, 1GB ram.

I checked task manager to observe cpu usage but it never goes anywhere near 100%.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the tearing? It's the only thing keeping it from being really enjoyable.

GameEx is fantastic by the way.. very smooth UI and easy to use.

GameEx takes up very few CPU cycles while an emulator is running, so if it works on its own, it should work with GameEx. Take a look at 'MAME options' which is the first item in the 'Advanced MAME Settings' page. My guess is that you are using an option that you are not using when you run mame on its own. I think that -triplebuffer causes some issues...

If you can't figure it out, Post your log.

Following your advice... I tweaked a few settings in the gameex mame advanced settings config to match those set in my stand-alone mame installation, and things seem perfect now.

Thanks for the tips :)
