Hi. I just started writing a post, and it went into the text options space, that portion being covered up by it, and then emerging below it as I continued. Is this just my browser?

I dunno, whats your browser? Good first post though ;)

I've had display issues on this forum and EmuMovies in IE7. Both use the same forum software but both exibited different behaviour. Here I had layers overlapping, such as the toolbar in the reply area covering the middle of the textbox. Really annoying. On EmuMovies pages would stretch out miles long and made it impossible to read anything. It would also just sit there and never finish loading some threads and it has a shoutbox that would freeze the whole browser when it refreshed. A nightmare!

I've come to the conclusion that this forum software hates IE7.. Aparently IE8 works better but I just moved to Firefox.. a much nicer browser and it's so similar looking to IE you hardly notice you've changed :)

Why anyone is still using IE is beyond me! I heart my firefox! :)

I just wish they all rendered pages the same. Its a pain in the a$$ as a web developer, and often something I overlook.

To me its just like picking Pioneer over Panasonic or choosing a toaster. ie as long as it works, but Im probably not the norm.

Perhaps, if the Panasonic was a more feature rich product... There's like 10 plugins I couldn't be without (like uTorrent, all-in-one sidebar, built in spell check)... If IE was more plugin friendly I might consider switching back. But it's taken IE forever just to add browsing tabs and Firefox has had that feature forever (just as an example).

Like you stated, though... It's more of a matter of preference.

I'm kind of used to IE. I tried FF years ago, but didn't like that it didn't tell me what was on each page in the taskbar. (This was pre-page tabs.) I tried Chrome out, but didn't like the uneven-ness of tabs when browsing different ones non-linearly. Haven't looked to see whether they changed this. It didn't seem that much faster, anyway. Oh, and I hated its default 'thumb' look - and couldn't find how to turn that off. And I don't do anything that requires plug-ins. In general, I find that things are mostly how I like them with IE, and that trying other stuff is an exercise in in....something....

But. I have had more browser crashes in the last couple months than I've had in the entirety of time I've been using XP (since '02), so.....

Hm. Well no visual issues with FF. It is very much like IE. I still like the interface of IE better, but FF seems faster and all....so I may stick with it. No web icons are showing for my bookmarks, though....

There's a plugin for that... Google Firefox Favicon Plugin.

I looked it up, and it says that you have to click on each link once for the favicons to show. If the plug-in solves that, I don't know why it isn't a stock feature. ??

Mmmmm, not on the first page of results, search terms being 'firefox favicon plug-in'. Nothing resulted at FF, itself, either.

Also, as I can't find it, is there some way to get rid of the 'plus' boxes in the folder tree of the favorites list? Unnecessarily takes up space!

Go to Tools->Add ons->Get Add Ons and type icon in the search box. It will bring up a few choices. I just grabbed "Favicon Picker 2" and it seems to work. It appears that old links require you to manually update the icon though.

My Firefox at home (3.5.7) has all the icons working. My instl at work (older version) needed the add-in to get the icons. I don't know for sure that the version thing fixed it though.
