I skimmed around and didn't find an answer, what I'm wanting to do is create Game Lists. These lists will be comprised of games from any of the available emus.

This way I can break out lists of games such as "Street Fighter" and include all games from MAME, CPS3, SNES and so-on.

I was skimming data.mdb and noticed the "Favorites" cell, with 1 of course meaning it was to be listed in faves, would it be possible to utilize this field to assign the game to additional lists?

1 - Faves

2 - Custom List

3 - Custom List

etc...

Or is that variable used a binary boolean value only for faves or not?

Is there any other way to accomplish this? or would this go under feature requests?

There have been many requests for multiple favorites lists for some time now. As of this point, I don't think GameEx has the capability to do it. The only way to accomplish this (for use with multiple users) is through a tool that HK built which allows different GameEx sessions/setups.

Sounds good, thanks for the reply. I had seen rumblings of users wanting to do it before, I just wasn't sure if it was possible yet.

Sadly I have toooooo many game lists I want to create to use the sessions option.

I hope to see this feature available some day in GameEX =) Tom? ;)

I have used a custom folder that I made for MAMEUI and placed in my c:\emulators\mame\customfolders path

Next update the listing within GameEx and is should read your file

Step 1: Open up a new text document

Step 2: Create a file that looks like this

[Light Gun]

combat

crossbow

sgunner

sgunner2

[Trackball]

ccastles

centiped

gridlee

gt2k

gt97

marble

milliped

missile

wcbowldx

[Driving]

gmtr

demoderb

konamigt

LAGUNAR

MONTECAR

outrun

polepos

polepos2

sprint1

ssprint

turbo

toutrun2

[Trigger Stick]

aburner2

buckrog

gorf

tron

dotron

starwars

SZAXXON

XENOPHOB

zaxxon

[spinner]

arkanoid

circus

tempest

sbrkout

Step 3: Save as a .ini file

Step 4. Launch GameEx. Then go to your Mame Screen. At the bottom of your list of categories. There should be a update list button. Click that and let it rip.

You are done now. I went through the Advanced Config and got rid of the all the Mame standard list (e.g. Vertical Games, Horizontal Games. etc) so only my categories would show up.

That's it. You can add more categories if you like. Just add Brackets before the category heading

FWIW, this isn't what the OP was asking about. He wanted to have MAME games appear with NES, SNES, Genesis, etc in the same list. What you have posted is an excellent description of how to make a custom game list for MAME. Useful, just not the original request.

You are correct sir! I sit at my desk corrected.
