Greeting all! I've been playing with MAME for many years and I've just completed my first Donkey Kong cabinet conversion. After trying every frontend I could find I purchased GameEx.

My question is about MAME versions. I have a lot of roms and it seems some roms will only play on older versions of MAME.

1- Is there a way I can set up 2 or more game lists for MAME in GameEX to support the different builds?

2- Many of the games I like seem to only play in v66. When I use MAME v66 it wont update the game list, it freezes at 25%. Is there a fix for this?

Any help is appreciated!

Yes, this is possible but it's not a standard setup. As such, you will need to do a bit of work to get it right. Basically, you need to set up a more modern version of MAME as your standard exe if you want to use the rom verification step. HOWEVER, since you are using an older version to actually play the roms, this won't be necessary. As such, you can just turn that feature off.

Basically, you need to set up your alternate versions of MAME as new emulators. Then, once you have it set up how you want, you can use the mameemumap.ini file to set up what roms are run on what emulator. It will take a bit of effort, but it's definitely worth it as it makes things run great!
