Exiting from MAME game from controller

right want t pick your guys brains again -

Is there anyway of exiting a MAME Game using a Controller?

I'm using an XBOX controller (via Adapter) but can't figure out how to use the contoller to exit MAME and go back to the GameEx Menu

I have attached the MAME CTRL (.cfg) file for the XBox Controller which I set up but I can't remember or know what and how to set up the EXIT Key (ESC) say linked on one of the Buttons (Button 6 or 5) - which are the black and white buttons on the controller.

Once I get all the settings correct for all my emus, I will create a new section and uload all the config controller files s veryone can use a XBox controller for all their emus and games.

i use a xbox control i think its Y,WHITE,BLACK,LEFT+UP thats the default to exit the emulators

I'm looking forward to this, just ordered adapters on ebay and having the contol files will help big time!

Can't you just map the button you'd like to use in M.A.M.E. by pressing "TAB" and in Input General/User Interface map the "GUI cancel" to the button you'd like to use?

If M.A.M.E. can handle your X-Box controller through the adapter for gaming, then GUI handling can't be a problem. Can it?

yea my mame works with my xbox control with out even tuching any setteings

but i changed it so when i press a key combination it opens the tab menu where u can choose to change the resolution,sound and the filters and many othere things

also if i need to change the controls for a one game i can do it while playing that game with my xbox control

right i have managed to do it to the black button

by editing the mame cfg file (under ctrl) and created one to map buttons to what i need. for example the BACK button inserts coin and the START button is like pressing 1 player start.

working on the 2nd controller for player 2 now.

will upload the config controller file when done.

spy hunter all u need to do is press tab when in game and the edit ur controls its much easyer

surely that only edits THAT particular game controls.

if you edit the controller file (or create a new one) i bound button 5 of the xbox controller (black button) to exit and it works.

now I can exit most emulators by bounding this button to esc or exit.

You forgot, I'm not really using a keyboard so everything will be done from remote (soon) or xbox controller.

go in the tab there are 2 options one for just that game and anothere for everygame

ok thanks but i'll think i will stick with the mame controller files, there easier to manage for me and change as and when I want.
