Hello, I have been trying to get gameex to work as a "project" for me in my spare time. Big problems though, when i go to load a game it shows up with all the screens controls and everything but the screen goes black for about 20 seconds and goes back to the play game screen. What am i doing wrong?

did you try to start mame without gameex? does this work? what version of mame do you use?

try to run your roms with mameui

Do you use a romset of mame roms? like the 0.133 romset?

Thats what i get from the "runitgame" file

also the roms work just fine in the emulator solo.

and as far as romset goes, i dont know what you mean by that.

AdvanceMAME hasn't been updated in years. If you are using a current romset, you are likely going to have problems running loads of games. You really should use the same version of roms as your version of MAME to avoid problems.

Ok i got Mame to run! I did this by turning Advanced mame off. Is there a tutorial out there that will break down advanced mame for me? I think this whole program is way out of my league. In reguards to the post above, i honesetly dont even know how to update advanced mame, i tried just downloading a new version and changing the filepath but then im back to black screen and no load.

Also thank you all for your time in helping out someone who should not be messing around with this program. It would really make my year if i got this cabinet up and running smoothly.

AdvanceMAME is specifically designed for people running on TV's and arcade monitors who want a bit more control over the way things are displayed than the old standard MAME could. I haven't seen an update in years, but I can't say the project is officially dead (effectively it is though). I don't recommend you using AdvanceMAME unless you have a good reason to. I would also suggest using the standard release of MAME over MAMEUI just because it simplifies troubleshooting and, since you are using GameEx, there's no real advantage to it anyway (MAMEUI is just standard MAME + GUI...which you will never see/use).

I Can load gameex just fine just when i go to mame it quits out and gives me that.

Any ideas?
