Alright,

I didn't know where to post this question so feel free to bump it somewhere else if need be. Is there a working MAME ROM of gauntlet legends... if there is I can't find it or I'm doing something wrong. I am so lost. Everytime I go to play this it tries to load then black screens.

Any ideas?

Yes, there is a working Mame ROM for Gauntlet Legends. We can't give links to commercial roms on the forum, and generally you're not supposed to ask.

However, what you can do is check the ROM you have using Clrmamepro. It will verify if you have the correct version of the Rom for your version of Mame (they change regularly).

Also, Gauntlet Legends is DEMANDING. You'll need a very high end PC and your OS must be 64-bit (and 64-bit Mame) to make Gauntlet Legends playable -- and even then it'll be fairly jerky. I'd recommend playing the PSX, Dreamcast or N64 versions instead until PC technology catches up with Mame.

Gaunlet Legends plays choppy on my Intel Core I7 2.6 just to give you an idea. The dreamcast version is the best IMO.

Honestly I have always been behind the times. When the athlons came out I had a k62 500 Then when the newer athlons came outI got a slot a version. When DDR memory came out I had to get a MB that still supported Sdram. When the core 2 came out I got a p4 with HT.

Until now my fastest pc was my laptop a 2.6 core2duo. I have had such a hardon over the i7 I had to get one. I have to tell youit is very nice. If your on the fence and have about 750 dollars get one. Most emulation is fantastic. Ive also been indulging in another relm of computing... Games that are actually new.

I got SFIV and I must say.... Its pretty damn fun

The last game I played was Far Cry I think. I'm pretty sure it wasn't considered a new game when I played it...a year ago. When I was in school, I always had the latest and greatest hardware and games. Then I met my wife and I think I've played 2 PC games since. For some reason, I was a bit burned out anyway, so it hasn't bothered me for years. Emulation is a bit different though. I get to play all the games I loved as a kid...and all the other ones I was jonesing over but never got to play.

I have "Call of Duty - World at war" and "Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare" on DVD. They came with something I ordered along the way. You can have them if you want them. Let me know, and I'll mail them to you. And don't feel bad about taking them, they are about 3 months old, and have never been out of their sleeves. Honestly, I hardly ever play games :( . If Not, BK's got Dibs.

Confession: I still run a Pentium 200 out in my workshop (for firefox, IM, and it has an old TV card). Yes, pentium as in "I", or one...IOW the first. Oh happy day it was when I upgraded it from a P100 (still got that CPU chip wandering around here somewhere)

I have a P3 600 in my closet. I had to upgrade it from that slow P3 400 in the hopes that I would be able to afford the second P3 600 for dual processing goodness (this was back when I was in school). By the time I could, they didn't sell the chip anymore. Even if they did at that point, I think Athlons were dominating for less money, so...

Sigh, ok...another confession... <_<

I still frequently (very frequently...like right now) use my custom dual P3-650 Coppermine, SCSI based, W2K Server box with dual monitors, for work purposes. I think I built it around '99 maybe. It doesn't do any heavy lifting anymore, but it's for web browsing, coding, SSH, email and so on. It's been rock solid all these years with only a single power supply replacement. Heck, it ran 24x7 up until about 3 years ago.

Just to chime in here...

I have a Core 2 Duo at 4GHz and Gauntlet Legends runs anywhere from 50% to 100%, mostly around 75%. Quite playable imho
