Having problem displaying non-english characters

I use swedish non-english letters (�, å, �, ä, �, ö) when creating custom menus. The letters is displaying correctly in the menus, but not in the top header (the largest letters on the top). For example the swedish word for Search: "Sök" becomes "Sk".

It's not a font issue. In the Theme Editor i can see that Trebuchet MS is used, which has the swedish letters. It must be some kind of programming issue.

Maybe other languages with non-english characters has the same problem. It would be nice if this could be fixed.
