Found another possible bug today.

I turned on the new "merge" feature (very happy to have it too -- I'm obsessed with Goodmerge, and this new feature lets me have my CD games act in the same behaviour, finally consistency across the board).

Anyways... I turned it on for my PSX games and went into Gameex to see the results. Final Fantasy IX had its previous four entries merged into one. Nice! Then I click on Final Fantasy IX, and the page I see is nothing like the normal GoodMerge info pages (ie with a list of the roms in the middle with icons for countries). It's just a normal page, with play this game at the top, and none of the other discs for Final Fantasy IX listed. Ditto for other games.

It could be due to the file name format that PSXRenamer uses confusing Gameex. I'll try it with some other systems.

Just to be clear, as I understand it, the new merge feature makes a non-Goodmerged set act like a real Goodmerged set. If you have a Goodmerged set as is and turn on the feature, it will likely not work as expected.

Of course....

Some sets just cannot be goodmerged though. Like playstation -- which is why I wanted to use the new feature, because it is not a goodmerged set, but I'd like for it to behave as one. It says in the "tip" in the advanced configurator that it can be used for CD sets -- but at least in the two sets I've tried so far, it doesn't merge the files, but rather lists one and ignores the rest completely.

I wasn't sure if you were trying to merge a goodmerged set is all. Playstation was only released as TOSEC anyway (well, of the big 3 groups anyway), right? If so, then goodmerging is a moot point.

Nope. The most common and popular naming format for the PSX is PSXrenamer -- which includes region info, disc number and the like in the brackets. The boxes package on emumovies is using the PSXrenamer format.

Since I have PSX images from the US, Europe, and Japan, wanting to use the merge feature is valid. And for multi disc games its also valid. It's not a moot point.

As I said, it says in the advance configuration that this new Gameex feature can be used for CD sets. On my machine for at least two CD sets it doesn't work as it says it should. It shows one thumbnail for a game in the list instead of four (which it should do) but when going on the info page it shows only one file (which it shouldn't). "Play this game" at the top of the page is sitting there at the top of the info page working (which it shouldn't), and there's no list of files contained within the merged game in the middle of the page (which is what it should be doing but isn't). In other words it's behaving half correctly - the game list is behaving as if it were a merged set, but the info page is not.

I'm pretty confident this is a bug I've found, so rather than arguing about whether I'm silly enough to merge already merged sets or merging something unmergable, can we see if this is repeatable.

Can someone please confirm this with a CD set?

Hi,

Im thinking it is is a bug. What it does is list uniquely without any [] or () so it should work if you have like [cd1] and [cd2] etc or anything in brackets then list them all on the info page. Ill take a look.

Sorry, wasn't trying to argue. I was just trying to make sure you were using the feature how it was intended. I know you've been using GameEx for a while, but sometimes it really is the simple thing that's the problem. Tom's already stepped in and is taking a look, so hopefully this can be resolved! :)

Thanks Tom.

Sorry Bkenobi for getting cranky.

Thanks Tom! I'll try it on the cab when I go in to work tomorrow

I am having this same exact problem.

Tom - You replied that this was possibly a bug, but Lawrence never responded to your reply. Do you want to work on this today?

Edit: I downloaded the GameExexe above, deleted my cache files, but it didn't help.

Sorry, bit busy, please post the map file and emulator config for the system in question, its obviously due to the naming.

With that information, I played with my filenames a bit, and found that there are 2 spaces beteen the name of the game, and the information in brackets. When I rename the files eliminating 1 space, it works fine. I will rename my files.

Thanks for the help. smile.gif

Well spotted. Im uploading a new version of GameEx now which fixes this. (Same version number). Please try in about 15 minutes or more.

yep, that fixed it!

As long as we are both here, can I get you to confirm that you are sending 'OK' to Daphne?

Can I get you to not send 'OK', if the option to skip disclaimers is off?

If you need anything else tested, let me know, I have time. smile.gif
