Tom,

I found a bug in the idle game feature. It works just fine, but doesn't look for gamepad input. So for an emulator that only uses gamepads as an input, gameex return to the front end after X mins.

It is supposed to, is it a particular emulator thats not working or everything?

MAME is one example. I use a GP-Wiz and when I try to start playing a game it will move on to the next game after 3 minutes. I have not tried using keyboard input to see if that would make a difference (didn't think about it until ReFleX pointed out that it might be isolated to gamepads). I don't have any other emulator set up to play in attract mode, so I can't confirm this is exhibited for other emulators.

I think Reflex was not referring to the screensaver. I think with the screensaver it was checking for the first five buttons. If it detects those, it should exit. If you press button 6 it should keep runnign the game. So something strange is going on as in your case it should exit the screensaver I would think.

I wonder if its xpadding interfering or something like that perhaps?

Ok, don't want to take over reflex's topic.

But since the topic is similar.... I have gamepad disabled in GameEx. So I guess that means that GameEx won't watch for gamepad input in emulators either? The reason I don't use gamepad support in GameEx and resort to XPadder is that GameEx can only use the first 16 buttons for a gamepad. BUT, the GP-Wiz has 32 inputs (and newer units have up to 40 inputs). For player 1 this is fine, but for player 2 GameEx won't see all of my inputs. Ah well, I've gotten used to exiting the game and finding it in the list when I want to play it.

Also, it only checks for gamepads that are set to be used with the interface. Could that be the issue?

Yes I think this is it. Its not during the screen saver itself. When I use project 64 I just use a gamepad and GameEx quits back to the frontend after 10 mins (the idle time I have set). I don't use the gamepad in GameEx though, just for project 64 (and a few other emulators where keyboard input just isn't setup very well).

When I play an emulator that uses the keyboard (say fusion), then everything is fine and it doesn't quit back.

One quick question: Is it possible to set up gamepad inputs in GameEx such that no button does anything? I'm thinking of turning on the gamepad support so that GameEx can detect input during attract mode but I don't want Gameex to actually respond to any inputs (I'll stick with keyboard input to actually use GameEx).

Not sure if this works... would love to know though :P Let us know

Tom, I know its been awhile on this topic, but I had an idea. Could you make an option in the individual emulators to disable the go back to gameex after a certain amount of time thing?
